Cub fans are stupid. Sox fans are smart. Got it. Sox won a World Series. Cubs have also. Sox are better because they won theirs before the Cubs in recent memory. OK.

The Sox have won how many more games than the Cubs and they are building a farm system?

Why do you keep bringing up the Sox? But since you asked, I don't think you'll find one Sox fan who says they love Hahn's plan if his teams average 95+ losses a season for three straight years. Every fan base can be overly optimistic at times but that's pretty much the crucial difference when people mock Cub fans for their optimism.

I bring the Sox up because Sox fans cannot quit obsessing about the Cubs. Why do they matter to you or Sox fans in general? I do not give a fiddlers fuck about the Sox. Not a priority for me. But dream on for your next lucky plucky blind squirrel finds acorn World Series in 2035.

Hey, would it matter to you if the Cubs win the series as a sort of one-off, unexpected kind of a thing, or after years of progressive growth that culminates in a championship? Does it make a difference? Honest question. Of course you'd want to contend every year, but the question of experiencing the win is different.

Hey Stupid, the fact that the Cubs have a deep enough farm system to even come up with a homegrown lineup is amazing. Try putting together a homegrown lineup with the Sox and you will really have something to laugh about.

The Cubs only need a third of that group to become good big league players and they can fill the rest of the lineup with free agents. That is something to get excited about. Theo said this will be the last year they are sellers, so look for them to add some free agents this off season to take some of the pressure off these rookies that will be coming up.

The Cubs are coming tra la tra la. Harry used to say that 20 years ago. Gonna happen.

But it's really never like that. It's more like this:

Luke is a writer for Bleacher Nation... covers the Cubs minor league system. That's also not a 100% homegrown lineup, since it is only 6 positions. Well, and Rizzo would be 1B and he isn't homegrown.

They won't field a home grown lineup but it's nice the system is so diversified to hedge against prospects busting.

Would Russell even be considered home-grown? 2 minor league years with the A's, one with the Cubs? (if he comes up sometime in 2015)

Two guys I think the Cubs can seriously target right now: CarGo and Stanton. Would obviously take one hell of a package to pull something like this off, but... Baez? And we know the Marlins want to move Stanton (leaked Astros docs), and the Rockies seem ok moving CarGo (or maybe even Tulo). Could also see the Cubs offering one of their SSs for some of the Marlins young pitching too.

I suppose not technically, but since Theo followed him around stalking him like Charles Grodin stalked Cybil Shepherd in The Heartbreak Kid I'll say he counts.
