bernstein admires the qualities he believes he also has. He knows he can never be LeBron or Mike Trout, but there is little doubt he believes he could run a professional franchise. It's really not much different than Mike North's obsession with free throw shooting. It's something he believes he can do better than most of the brothers in the league.

Not only that, I think he believes he could step into the job TODAY and be great at it.

Bill Simmons spent at least three years telling anyone who'd read/listen that he could run the Minnesota Timberwolves. The lines are converging.

And just so we dont lose sight of the actual truth in these jokes, Bernstein is not more than 5"6 and a half (that feels weird even typing the half)

Bernstein might be trolling with the repeated height discussion. No one who has seen him thinks he's 5'7", much less 5'8". And that's likely in shoes with heels and lifts.

Right but wasnt Simmons basically making the point that the T'Wolves were run so poorly ANYone would be better?

He's more self aware than DB

Simmons has said--half tongue-in-cheek--he'd like to work in an NBA front-office but not as GM, more in a Bill James advisory kind of role as 'VP of Common Sense'.

This wouldn't surprise me in the next 10 years. The NFL will be the front runner and it will be great.

Jeter, Rivera, Posada, Pettite were not only all in the minor league system at the same time but rookies in the same year.

The more interesting question is, is the current Cub farm system the best in the history of Chicago.

Which four guys are going to be matching the Thomas, Mc Dowell, Ventura and Fernandez?

No Alvarez? Not sure if that lined up enough. Without looking I would guess Sirotka, Durham might have been there.

Bad comparison. Those 4 guys were not in the minors together. I think McDowell came up in 87. Robin in 89. Thomas and Alex were both up in 90 I believe.

I think what Bernstein is saying is strictly a class that is currently in your farm system. Not on the big league roster.

Isn't this what Castro is projecting to be? I hope they can keep both.

I was watching MLB Network when they drafted that guy at #16. They had no video, none of the analysts knew anything about him, and the ticker incorrectly described him as a left handed pitcher. But, the first Cubs talking head they had on said "he reminds us of Greg Maddux."

Seems the analysts were correct and the old scout He dry was wrong on that one

What is the Cub guy on the draft show supposed to say?

"Bob, we've never heard of him. If he exists he's bad. Quite frankly I doubt that was the pick, can you check it again? "

Cubs fans HATED that puck from day one
