Need some advice on reselling tickets. I'm trying to dump some Cubs tickets for some profit (yea yea yea) as my car has some issues and want to use the cash to pay for the parts. Threw them on craiglist and two bites have both been sketch as hell.

First guy offered to trade "deadstock retro Jordan's". No idea what the hell they are and the guy said I could sell them for more than I'm asking. Told him he should sell them and then meet my price. So there's that.

Second guy asked if they are available and what are the tickets face value. If he wants them why does it matter? I tweak a bit since Illinois supposedly strong reselling laws and this is a little shady in my opinion.

Should I go ahead and meet the mystery dude? Is there something I can do/ask to ensure I'm not getting scammed?

Sox fans just don't show up. Cubs fans buy tickets and then don't show up.

Seriously, is there even a market to resell Cubs tickets for even face value, let alone for profit?

If he's also offering Skittles, hell no.

uh. Yeah, I sell a decent amount of my Cubs tickets. I'd never use craigslist. And I use craigslist all the time for other things.

Stubhub. And be prepared to get back .25 on the dollar.

Well that's why I don't want to use StubHub. I've had luck with CL buying and selling. What other things we talking about CoF? Possibly worthy of a trade? :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

@Frank: you're right but a weekend series with Cubs/Cards still carries some weight with all the BFiB wanting to see their Redbirds.

Include some Cubs minor league tickets and they'll go fast.

Is the person buying the tickets going by a code name of Patrick Ewing?

I've sold Bears tickets on Craigslist. I never list the exact seat number, just the section and the row. That doesn't really matter if you're not a full season ticket guy though. I don't want to lose the seat license.

I just go by my gut. Sometimes a guy seems weird and I blow him off. I think you should be able to get face for Cardinal tickets depending on where they are.

As far as scalping laws, sure they're on the books. But I'd take my chances in front of a judge if it came to that. It's got to be hard to find a guy guilty when there are so many secondary markets and teams are scalping their own tickets.

It's pretty much a cancer patient who received a terminal diagnosis.. Currently running rough and identified as ignition coils needing to be replaced. I have a coolant leak I need to find and fix. There's a fuel vapor leak somewhere which my guy said he wouldn't risk fixing. So it won't pass emissions next year for sure. Computer reading also said TCC System - torque converter control solenoid has an error. Reading forums essentially my tranny will eventually crap out.

Just need a few more months outta this sucka.

Coil packs are cheap. I bought Audi R8 coilpacks for $22 per after I tuned my ECU, as I blew one.

The other stuff is obviously the real issue - and issues you'd rather not address unless you have to.

But on the bright side...if you do have transmission issues, you can make an awesome False Neutral! video and post it to youtube like I did.

Yeah, I had a truck that was dying and I was hoping to find a job downtown before it crapped out on me, but it was on its deathbed and I'm stuck in the burbs still, so newer car it is. But I'm telling myself that the new job I get will pay me so much that I can double my notes and pay if off in record time!

i have tickets to 2 Lolla aftershows on the same night...1 sold out instantly and 1 still has tix available, so i figured ok i guess my decision is made i'll go to the non-sold out one and sell the others since there's a market

ticket face is 15$ and they're on stubhub for like 75$

put an ad on CL, this chick emails me and offers me 50 for the pair. i figure whatever, i'm a nice guy and i wasn't really looking to make a profit to begin with, so i said ok. set up a meetup time in the city a few weeks back on a Saturday, and she pretty much blew me off....she did contact me a few times but was constantly running late....and i'm like what a jerk, i'm selling you these tickets for nearly face value, you'll never find that , and you blow me off ? people are assholes

i think the lesson i've learned throughout the years it's a very trick prospect to resell tickets for profit as an individual. its just too much of a hassle to make a small amount of cash. and if you go the 'easy' route and sell on stubhub they jack 1/2 your profit, you're screwed either way
