If you're tired of ripping Rex (I'm not done yet) then take a break and think about this piece of shit: Cedric Benson.
He was drafted because his hard-hitting running style matched Ron Turner's offensive style and because he's a special player (according to the offensive genius Jerry Angelo), tough, durable and because Thomas Jones really isn't a #1 back. I guess having the most yards rushing in a season for the Bears other than Walter Payton while missing a game still isn't good enough. And now they're telling us that Benson's running style doesn't fit Ron Turner's offensive style, he runs like a pussy after a couple good hits, he's been injured several times already, can't block, and probably doesn't even want to block. I don't remember who said it, but Benson is great at turning a 40 yard run into a 8 yard gain....after he breaks through the line to the secondary he looks for the closest defender and drops his shoulder. Maybe Jerry Angelo meant "special" as in "special education", but it doesn't seem like this guy is coachable...he actually seems to be getting worse. He has more talent but isn't any better than Anthony Thomas. Don't be fooled by that 100-yard game he had against the Chiefs, it would've been 200 yards for a good running back. He's definitely not a special player and his role in 2006 as the second part of a 1-2 running back tandem seems to fit his effort level much better.

Peterson has nearly double the yards per carry of Benson, doesn't he? Benson is averaging 3.2 yards/carry. Peterson is averaging 4.3 yards/carry and catches the ball out of the backfield. That means that if they are getting 20 carries, we are more likely to get 86 yards a game from Peterson, or nearly 1,400 yards. But from Benson, we are looking at 64 yards a game or barely 1,000 yards.

I think they should look to put Peterson at RB, use Wolfe as a 3rd down/change-of-pace back, and make Benson the Goalline guy. I would even consider lining Hester up in the backfield. I think its funny that the exact thing that I recommended the Bears do with Hester, TO did for Dallas last night, coming out of the backfield. I guess I'm more on the same page with Jason Garrett than I am Ron Turner.

Peterson would get hurt as an 25 carry back.

I'd be willing to find out.

Here is the problem.

I bet when asked if Benson was benched, what they are going to say is “we needed to throw the ball and Adrian is our passing running back”, so there wont be any messages sent from last week.

Adrian Peterson needs to start next week to send the right message and that message is “we are better than this and no matter how much money you make or how good you think you are, if you don’t perform, you aren’t going to play for us”

Simple concept from a simple man.

That goes against everything they have done with both Benson and Grossman in the past. I wouldn't bet on them starting this now. These two have both been handed their jobs without competition and you see what happens.

That's misleading. You have to consider the situations where Peterson is getting the ball. Like yesterday where he was in for what amounted to garbage time. Waaaltuuuh and Barry Sanders are about the only two back that would succeed with the line play they've been getting.

Benson's problem is that he is apparently a Grossman-like mental midget.

My Benson concerns are similar. Though Rex wouldn’t be my comparison, it would actually be Eddy Curry. I have no doubt Benson is the most talented back on this team. What I do doubt, however, is whether or not he gives a shit.

Benson wants the money and glory that comes with being a starting NFL running back, but he's not willing to accept the physical punishment that is a necessary component of the position. Now that Jones is gone, he's simply not running hard because he's no longer hungry. Neither he nor Grossman will be on the team next year.

I'm thinking it was Jurko who said that, Friday. They were pissed that Benson says that everything the coaches tell him goes right through, between the ears.
