How the fuck do you butcher "Kevin Dineen"?!? There's nothing there to get wrong! You know what, forget I asked, I don't want to know.

Props to Schuster. I heard him last week say EVERY correctly probably 4-5 times within the segment. He's working on that and his nice tan.

Len Kasper on the Cubs finishing at the bottom again to get another high draft pick: "I'm diggin' what they're doing, but I have been all along." Great analysis.

I wonder what that 100 year old Louis Reinhart who threw out the first pitch and then died and who desperately wanted to see a winner in his lifetime felt about Theo throwing away his last three seasons.

"This is the beginning of the beginning of the beginning..." gave me a pretty hearty chuckle.

Can someone help me out and tell me if they've discussed the ASG at all? I read Joe Sheehan on twitter lamenting the fact that Kershaw isn't starting in lieu of Wainwright and it got me wondering what Dan's thoughts were going to be, if he had any on the topic.

Wainwright has the higher WAR, so Dan has no issue with it.

Making a 100% correct and accurate assumption, then he'll read the ten most statistically similar players to Waino and salivate.

Not possible. The Hero's Journey requires the hero to go away from home to come back stronger, and Jerry didn't have to move the White Sox to St. Petersburg after all. Therefore, Jerry Reinsdorf is more heroic than LeBron James, Aeneas, and Harry Potter.

Kershaw was hurt at the beginning of year and WAR is cumulative so if Dan uses that he's wrong.

Im sure he will

Bernsie with a WYC for anyone that needs one. He claims to be in the dark with all the black callers about the hair thing then goes to commercial pimping a Chris Rock documentary on Blacks and their hair issues. Says it was solid.

a smear campaign by ESPN  if only Berns could understand the motive it'd all make more sense...gah, must be so frustrating. (guilty: I listened to tranny today)

Bernstein quotes Mark Deeks about the 'dead money' Reinsdorf has paid out. For one thing, that was provided with no context in relation to what other teams have paid. A lot of players waive guys, especially in the old CBA when contract lengths were longer. The Magic paid $62m on Gilbert Arenas's Amnesty alone.

The other is that Reinsdorf may have paid players to go away, but it was a sunk cost...it wasn't like he re-spent more money somewhere else. Deeks more thoroughly published these numbers too, a complete history of the luxury tax.

http://www.shamsports.com/2014/07/compl ... y-tax.html

in 14 years they paid it once, for a total of $4m.

It's easy to counter the 'cheap' argument because he's a billionaire NBA owner who of course will have to spend some money on the team. The Bulls have a huge market all to themselves and turn a gigantic yearly profit, you can expect more (some would say it would bring them closer to a championship to leverage that competitive edge over smaller-market teams?). It's like saying some rich dude who didn't tip isn't cheap because well he paid all that money for dinner, didn't he?

He is right that a lot of observers (not just ESPN though) were suspicious that Reinsdorf would pay amnesty on Boozer, but that was fair given his history. And now that he has and the remaining players were signed with cap space, the Bulls are far far below the luxury tax.

oh, and in Tranny, Bernstein says EIGHTY THREE MILLION...when it was actually $64m. And you can shave a couple million off whenever Boozer gets claimed.

You've got a computer right there!
