So yeah, I think it's fair to criticize putting all your eggs in the free agency/aquire them via trade baskets.

That's um, not true?

In Theo's first draft after picking Almora he went pitcher with the next 7 picks. In the 1st 10 rounds he went with 9 pitchers and 3 position players.

In Theo's second draft after picking Bryant he went pitcher with 6 of the next 7 picks. In the 1st 10 rounds he went with 7 pitchers and 3 position players.

In Theo's third draft after picking Schwarber he went pitcher with 8 of the next 9 picks. In the 1st 10 rounds he went with 8 pitches and 2 position players.

Now you can criticize him and "superstar" McLeod for the pitching not developing quick enough but the focus IS there.

Let's not forget trading for Vizcaino, Hendricks, Edwards, Black or Ramirez.

Thank you.

Thank you for pointing out that they've failed to use their top pick on a pitcher yet. Also, thank you for pointing out that they've traded for a bunch of good pitchers...because that absolutely wasn't the point I made in prior post.

I've heard criticism of the draft regarding a lack of pitching at the top from Cub fans here. Not sure why it's so controversial when someone else might suggest it hasn't been a priority for them.

You're not being controversial. Just showing you that they haven't ignored drafting pitching at all.

Example A:
Quote:
The Cubs have been consistent picking the best player left on their board. Last year they had pitcher Mark Appel as their first to choose on the board before Bryant. When Houston took Appel, the Cubs stayed true to the board by taking Bryant.

They sort of got lucky so far with this one. But clearly they aren't ignoring pitching. Not sure what else you'd like them to do.

Now this does raise questions whether they suck at drafting pitching though. Totally plausible.

Why are Cubs fans even fighting it now? Massive success is on the horizon and has already started. Just enjoy the next decade of laughing at jealous Sox and Cardinals fans!

I just hope the 2030 White Sox can be the 2015-2025 Chicago Cubs!

I could probably ask you why you care so much as to make over 30,000 posts on CSFMB. "It's just what we do."

Good point, as drafting a pitcher with your first pick is a surefire way to win.

I'd stay to help you make your point, but I have to get back to watching my tape of Mark Prior towel drills.

I agree, but I don't really see much of it from Cubs fans unless it's a response. I'm sure the Sox fans would dispute that, but I think it's pretty accurate.

Have you missed the opinion of many that the 2005 Sox season was either lucky or a failure?

I've seen it as a response to Sox comments revolving around the failure that is the Cubs.

Come on Rick. Look at all the Cubs threads started by Sox fans. Not ALL Sox fans but a select few. I don't think Dolphin even believes half the shit he posts, and he wears his Cubs trolling as a badge of honor. That's fine, but don't shy away from it.

Well, I can go forward with discussions bashing Kenny, Jerry, AJ, Ozzie, and pretty much anyone who mattered. Cubs fans mentioned Sale's coming career ending injury more than Scorehead mentioned his caveman diet.

This season it does seem to favor the Sox fans. However, they are a pretty sensitive bunch. I can't even say anything bad about Billy Beane without me getting jumped on!

Contreras got a quality start though. That is all that matters.

Btw, saying KW had some gambles work out is not the same as calling the team lucky.

Ive never denied they were a great team. Not 100 Win great...but great

It was more than "some gambles".

Regardless of the regular season to not call the 2005 playoff run great is baseball retarded and Cub fan trolling.

Also, can I nominate "Sox won't make the playoff for five years" as something that is worse than pretty much anything good dolphin has said? How about that Abreu will soon be playing in Japan?

I guess we just have different opinions on "gambled his ass off".

I'm going to go gamble by playing the lottery tonight! Hopefully I'm skillful enough to win!

In all honesty, RPB is probably the most diplomatic arguer on this board. You would be hard-pressed to find a topic where he isn't considering the other side's POV. Obviously there are nut job Cub fans AND Sox fans who agree with everything their organization does, but the White Sox fans also do everything they can to incite the Cub crazies.

As a side note, I hate RPB, just to be clear.
