Im glad you worded it how you did. That's not at all how I meant it. Like the insane blind luck of wimning a lottery.

I mean it more like betting a 5 team NFL parlee and winning all 5. It takes skill but its still rare

Sounds like you've made your mind up already.

How does 2005 compare to your average World Series winning year? Are most titles done by GM's who "gambled their ass off"?

I mean, you can just end this by saying that Kenny did a very skillful job and you don't think luck had any more to do with it than most other titles.

I would take saying that someone gambled and won as a compliment. It implies a risk-taker who will put his neck on the line to deliver a champion.

I think a very skillful job would have resulted in a dynasty...or at least a team remaining a title contender for several seasons in a row.

Kenny did a 'good job' at creating one World Series winning team. He did a 'serviceable job' at providing White Sox fans a team to be proud of over a stretch of years. Were the 2009 White Sox successful because the 2005 White Sox were?

So you don't think Kenny did a skillful job?

Look at this leash! Imagine if Theo won a World Series in Chicago and good dolphin said he did a 'good job'!

Good job, nor serviceable job, equal shitty job.

No not all titles are the same

My detailed explanation in the quoted thread still stands.

Thank you for the offer of ending this but I must decline.

It was more a comment on dolphin, though "good job" on a World Series win seems a bit aggressive, no? I get what you're saying about it possibly being better in the long run, but a championship is a championship, especially in baseball where nothing is given.

It was 2005's championship. The White Sox opt into the competition known as a MLB season every season, don't they?

You don't win a World Series and then take a decade long bye.

 @ Leash, a Cub fan, coming in and trying to objectively claim he notices more Sox fans trolling than Cub fans. Both fanbases have their trolls, and their non trolls. For every dolphin, JORR, Brick, etc there is a Kirkwood, IMU, Scooter, and Juiced. We got Hatchet, y'all got Jimmy. The teams are even.

Your anti 2005 Sox posts are pretty offensive. I lash out when offended.

Fwiw, you were JORR's counterpart, not Juiced's.

How are they anti 2005 White Sox? They're not anti anything. If I were a White Sox fan, I'd have been disappointed that 2005 wasn't book-ended by more success. One championship is good...but it doesn't mean you don't want to win anymore championships. Any team that is one and done would be disappointed.

It was a decade ago, dude. Let's say the White Sox don't win another. How many years after a championship is it acceptable to become frustrated and now want to win another?

For me...it is one year. For you...it seems like 10+ is totally fine?

I was pissed when the Blackhawks got knocked out this year.

You keep saying that winning in '05 does nothing for teams in '09, etc. But then you try to have it both ways by claiming that the lack of success in later years is somehow indicative of 2005 being disappointing. I don't get it.

I know one thing. Unlike poor Louis Reinhart I will not be dying without seeing my team win a World Series. Is IMU certain he can say the same?

I never said 2005 was disappointing. Frank has taken one sentence out of one cohesive paragraph. Go read the post I made and you'll understand.
