Blow it out your ass. When a song is that portentous and overwrought, it comes back out the other end and becomes true art. Also, there's a stripped-down arrangement that's not so over the top.

The only thing lamer than the original is the acoustic version

Anyway, that band seemed a lot like Tonic to me. Not terrible. Not real memorable.

One of the worst songs of all time, in any form.

CH Checklist

-Loves 'The Freshmen" and by extension the Verve Pipe
-Hates Tailgating
-Had problems with Chus and his XXX Ass and Tits GTFO threads.

It's not looking good!

Yeah, they're in that big bin of '90s alternative/adult-contemporary bands that had a song or two and went away. Verve Pipe, Tonic, Wallflowers, Collective Soul, Candlebox, Sister Hazel, Duncan Sheik.

WXLC promoted concerts at Blarney Island that featured some permutation of Blessid Union of Souls, Tonic, and Nine Days. Nine Days opened for at least one of the other two and maybe both. I'll check the t-shirts at the very bottom of the dresser drawer I never open.

Nine days is the Story of a girl band right? A girl I knew when they were popular claimed to have hooked up with the singer (slightly plausible. She was like 20 years old with a nice rack)

God, Sister hazel and Duncan Sheik put this whole thing in perspective. Those two songs were miles worse than The Freshmem

Id take Collective Soul off that list. They had several hits and a few good albums.

Yeah, "Story of a Girl" was Nine Days. Which one was Tonic? Was that the breaking at the bend one?

Also, I should note that Girls used "Barely Breathing" by Duncan Sheik on two unrelated occasions to mock people.

Oh yes, that's right. I was thinking of "Shimmer" by Fuel, upon consulting the "middle school music" folder on my hard drive.

Oh sweet Jesus, remember when we couldn't escape "Kryptonite"? I won't even commit hard drive space to that one, and I'm someone with an mp3 of "Boyz In The Hood" by Dynamite Hack.

Tonic was "If you could only see"

I remember a Q101 dj talking about them possibly becoming a huge band and the crowd going crazy when they heard the opening chords of IYCOS

As soon as he said it I remember thinking "That will never happen. This is not the beginning of anything big. "

That Boyz in the Hood cover was great

Kryptonite was bad

How bout Harvey Danger? I credit them with starting me on my exit path from Q101...brutal

Really? That happened? I figured that song was more 101.9 than 101.1. Did the same guy get excited about Train?

Geez Bernsie a little strong on the defending of social media and going hard that Erin Andrews is nothing without it.

That was an extremely dumb way to end the ill advised interview.

This was also dumb

Andrews should watch her back, too. Holly Sonders just got hired away from the Golf Channel by FOX, and she will reportedly have her own spot on the NFL sidelines this fall. She has longer legs, bigger boobs and even her own naked-photos-on-the-internet story. And she’s only 27.

So Dan applauds "Word Crimes" and laments that David Foster Wallace isn't here to appreciate it, then he writes this passive-voice clanger?

I am really starting to lean toward Bernsie becoming a more polished Mariotti. Just throwing shit out there under his what to you care I am a radio host not journalist. That is unless he wants to tackle really really important subjects.
