Is there a board consensus on OFWGKTA here? I started listening a couple years ago when Goblin was getting major raves.
Dug a little deeper into some of the other projects from them.
Still can't shake the "EARL" video, even though I know at least the bleeding parts were fake.
Earl, Hodgy, Mike G., (and I guess Tyler) are all very talented rappers,
but the nihilism is a little hard to swallow.
I like a lot of it, but it mostly takes me to dark places if I listen too long.........
Jasper is one funny fat fucker though.
Edited to add - feel kinda the same way about Death Grips (RIP).
:?

So...bagels....
Have you seen anything about The Julie Ruin playing on Friday? They aren't listed on the official Pitchfork website, but:

Yeah Tyler himself would tell you he's not a talented rapper

They're interesting. Its just kinda horror core. Seems Earl is the best one

Tyler will do great things as a producer or possibly an actor. Guy is just talented

I'm reasonably sure the picture that they are using on their website is Eddie Vedder crowd surfing in the early 90s. Any idea why they use such a picture?

Because Pearl Jam used to be cool in the early 90's?

Real Estate is a pretty snoozy band, you're more likely to need a hearing aid than earplugs..

Good call. I need to dig out the solo effort I own. The golden age of indie rock.

I'm not a big "Beck guy", but he was better than I expected. Dude knows what he is doing. Although I know I wasn't the only one that giggled when 20k people are singing along to "loser". The irony is not lost on me.
Pretty sure a girl almost died behind me and Bagels during Beck's set. She was on something she shouldn't have been. Kinda freaky.
Sharon Van Etten was good - would love to see her in a smaller place.
Giorgio Moroder is absolutely stealing money on the festival circuit this summer. I don't get him at all. Bad. Laughable even.
And for the record: Avey Tare > Panda Bear

Weather could not have been better - it's usually hot or storming.

Doug big timed us.

We saw Sun Kill Moon.

I told ya where we were sitting! Had a group of about 20 people.
Giorgio Moroder was not good.

Was not expecting that set from Beck at all. He played Debra! What the hell?!?!?

Sun Kil Moon was......eh.
After a while, if you dedicate yourself as an artist to being THAT intentionally laid back/disinterested, then so is your audience.
Pretend to care and your audience may just do the same.
Keep it. We watched the 1st 3-4 songs.

Left early tonight, Neutral Milk Hotel does nothing for me.

WAY, WAY impressed with TuneYards. She's really fun in concert. Cool to see the way she constructs the songs live.
Danny Brown was pounding, good stuff.
I'd be furious if I bought tickets today to see Pusha-T. Dude started 30 minutes late, only played for about 15 minutes, and then bitched when festival organizers cut him off. Nice knowing you.

BUT -

The night belonged to St. Vincent. Even better than the last time I saw her. She was the headliner. Huge crowd for her. Eventually she dove in and got kicked in the face for her trouble. I may have said this before, but she reminds me of Prince, in all the good ways. Absolute stage presence, artistic, funky, and badass guitar player when she wants to be.

Back at it early tomorrow. 8)
