I just got done watching License to Kill,a 007 flick. Part of the plot was the bad guy threatening to shoot a passenger flight out of the sky with a stinger missile. I log on to the internet come to this site and this is the first thing I read.

Good thing I wasn't watching Planet of the Apes.

My guess is it was a costly mistake. There's been some nasty fighting with the new Ukrainian PM trying to root these cocksuckers out. Cynically speaking, this incident is a good thing for Ukraine.

Rumor is separatists mistook it for an IL-76 coming in to evacuate the encircled ukrainian troops at the airport.

So this is, to this point, the only available video of the plane hitting the ground and blowing up (it's far off in the distance so don't worry about seeing something untoward).

I guess I'm curious how the fella knew to be filming in that direction and lucked in to centering the impact in the shot almost perfectly.

I'm not implying anything. I don't denegrate the tinfoil hat crowd as much as I used to, but I'm certainly not looking to be a member of it. I think it's just ... well, without any context to the video, it's just something I thought was a valid thing to wonder about is all.
