The guest on Thursday’s “Sports & Torts” with co-host Elliott Harris and me at noon Central time on Talkzone.com is former Tennessee football star Johnny Majors, who went on to become a successful college coach at Iowa State, Pitt and Tennessee. That show also will be available later Thursday via podcast at http://www.talkzone.com/episodes/155/SAT071014.html

Hey whenever you cave in to the social pressure to add a black cohost to the show, just know that I've got my people locking up the name "Sports & Torts With Ports." I'm quite fair, but keep in mind that I also have to eat too.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.

I thought we'd get to see forever
But forever's gone away
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

I don't know where this road
Is going to lead
All I know is where we've been
And what we've been through.

If we get to see tomorrow
I hope it's worth all the wait
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

That's probably not a horrible Iowa State record for that era...! Regardless, mention of his head coaching stops doesn't diminish Johnny's overall success.

Good friend of Lou Holtz'. Holtz: "I'll give you a call this week John."

Perhaps not (in truth, it was the conference record for his tenure...screwed the pooch a bit on that one), but I'm not ready to say he was successful during his time in Ames.
