Why would any random person think that mascot isn't associated with the Cubs?

Because it isn't inside the ballpark.

I certainly don't think the Cubs have a patent on bear suits. Their case is likely a loser so they are just trying to bully the guy. However much of a jerkoff Billy Cub may be, I don't think anyone should really be cheering a big powerful guy using the court system to bully a broke little guy.

The guy is making money off of pretending there is a link to the organization. He wears the jersey. The logo is painted on the car.

Do you think people pay for photos with a guy dressed up in a random bear outfit?

People dress as trademark protected characters on Hollywood Blvd and in Times Sq all the time and the studios pay them no mind. Some of them got too aggressive asking for tips a few years ago and fights started breaking out btw the characters and tourists and the LAPD rounded up the "superheroes". But they mostly ROR'd out and were right back at it the next day; where they continue to do pretty much exactly what Billy Cub does.

Wonder why the Cubs chose to file an action mid-season. Filing it now gives Billy Cub and his folks the chance to play the "Save Billy Cub from the big bad Cubs org" card for a couple of months to thousands of Cub fans. Better off doing this in the off-season, you'd think. Maybe a question of remedies? i.e., what could the Cubs ask for in the off-season if Billy Cub isn't active. But it seems a court would still be able to order Billy Cub not to do his thing prospectively if this were filed in the off-season.

Theo should be more worried about Addison Russell's 200 point drop in OPS facing right-handed pitching this season than the activities of some d-bag in a furry costume.

New Talking Points Sox Fans Bring Up When Bringing Up The Cub

25 points for being dead on...10 points for being close, etc.

Once the Cubs promote the top prospects, and they are no longer prospects, Sox fans will lose "Cubs fans pay more attention to the minors than their own team."

When the Cubs start winning, there goes the whole "The plan is to lose!"

When fans continue following the team after the jumbotron is up and forget Cubs Radio on WGN even existed...there goes the whole "the only thing that makes the Cubs interesting is the tradition."

etc etc.

But Sox fans are nothing but resilient. They'll find something.
We can call it the "Things that won't be true once they aren't true" contest and we can include things like "When I make my first million then people can't say I'm not a millionaire" and "When I play in the NBA then people can't say I'm not an NBA player"!

Also, "The tradition" is a Cubs talking point! Again, if you don't think Wrigely was a special place and is just a normal ballpark then that is fine too.

What does Theo have to do with this? He works in baseball operations. Very odd douchebagging.

Just so everyone is aware here, unless Illinois has some completely different laws, the Cubs are legally wrong here. It's not even a debate. They are just going to tie the guy up with legal bills like they are a fracking company. Anyone who has been to Times Square would realize this.

Imagine if IMU was walking down Ashland and the Cubs tried to force him to stop wearing a Cubs jersey. Would that be allowed?

I think he stopped wearing Cubs gear. But I don't even know if they can legally stop him from doing that. Because if they can, they can stop you from wearing it. Just like Rick said.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say I have never seen players and field managers discuss minor league players as much as those from this Cubs organization.

Objection! Conjecture - IMU would never be "walking down Ashland," unless that is hip jargon for "cruising down Meacham."

Julian Green is demanding the surrender of the Billy Cub suit to the Cubs for destruction.

Maybe Grant DePorter can buy it!

IMU seems to think your daughter cares if the bear suit is owned and operated by Tom Ricketts rather than Wayne Stylie.

He looks like a Cubs mascot. Cubs style jersey and hat and a bear costume

It works.

Do you and your daughter feel duped because he isn't a wholly-owned subsidiary of Ameritrade?

Cubs fan optimism is so cute.

I expect in the next coming years, eother Sox fans will be able to tear into cubs fans for having a failed plan, or Cubs fans will be able to mock both Sox fans who still have season tickets at the cell and the one that listens to them on 120sports.com

So we'll make fun of you? Because I can guarantee in the coming years, you will continue to start threads about something Farmer or Stone said on a broadcast, even though you just "happened to flip the game on" for a few minutes.

Boy do I feel foolish for having my picture taken with what I thought was Ribbie and Rhubarb but it turned out to be two homeless guys.

Anyone have a status update on the Cubs renegade mascot/bro-puncher?
