This would probably go back to the 1980s, but I can't find reference to it on the web or in the Trib. Wasn't there a mayor in northwest Indiana who died of an electrical shock? I seem to remember some flooding, and he was driving a city truck to help clear sewers or something. He struck a downed power line and was killed.

Ring a bell for anyone?

I'm pretty sure Indiana didn't have electricity until the early 2000s, so your recollection is flawed.

This sounds made up. A northwest Indiana mayor would have contracted out sewer cleaning and electrocutions and then pocketed a % of the fees.

Actually it was right after Wrigley got their lights installed, so us hicks could keep up with the Joneses.

We had Musco bring portable lights before then, so we could keep chasing the farmers' daughters after dark.

I'd amp this thread up with a joke like that but I fear I'd get some resistance.
Ohm my god.

This thread is way too negative.

But as with many threads on this board, opinions are polarized.

Finally, a positive attitude.

Upon first impulse I thought this happened years ago, but upon more thought, perhaps the event was a little current?
