I wrote a book with my coauthors that I'm rather proud of and think that it might be of interest to some of you. It is right now being pushed for use in school but we hope it will have a mass media market, it's called Pollyanna's Revenge: How Memories and Emotions Foster Happiness http://kendallhunt.com/pollyannas_revenge/

A quick synopsis:
Our minds are constantly processing our day to day experiences and our memories as to ease the sting of our bad memories while simultaneously allowing us to savor our good memories. Contrary to popular belief, our brains are actually working very hard, everyday, to help keep us happy. Pollyanna’s Revenge explores psychology research that has revealed that our brains have more in common with the ever-optimistic Pollyanna than most people realize, especially in terms of how we experience memories changes over time to accentuate the positive while the pain associated with negative memories recedes.

I'll have an amazon link when we get it.

I'm pretty excited about this, much like my first research article getting published, my first book is pretty cool.

Love the title; abhor the thesis.

Our original book cover had a better picture of a girl swinging a sword as if to kill something.
We decided to be less final with the end product.

If my brain is trying to make me happy each day then I want to fire it and hire a new brain. This one sucks shit...

Now, is this a book written directly for the average fella, or is it shop talk that has been filtered a bit for the average fella?

We wrote it with a mass media appeal in mind. It is not shop talk and we (try to) use humor and human interest stories to make points.

I can only hope that it becomes so popular that one day I'm able to easily pirate a copy to read. :eye:
