Has anyone ever cared what SAS or Bayless has ever said? They love being media fodder. Actually I care when Rick Bayless told me my tomatillo salsa was sup par. I actually cried a little. Thank god that didn't get aired.

I just watched the show and context is very important. He was responding to the fact that Ray Rice's wife was hitting him before he swung back. He said while there is never an excuse to hit a woman that women shouldn't provoke a man by hitting them. A clip of the show is being extremely unfair to him. He couldn't have been clearer about the fact that men shouldn't ever hit women and that the NFL should have suspended Ray Rice even longer despite the fact she "provoked" him by attacking him in the elevator.

you know, that's like re: chiraq saying that people should make sure they're not going out and causing other people to want to shoot them. clearly we need to blame the guns and the youth so let's go with mary mitchell and get stop and frisk please! anything that gives cops more power to technically have the right to roll me up and search the shit out of me for any reason they want, just as long as it's happening because some kids on the southside are shooting each other.

deadspin sucks as both an entertainment and news source. the smacked ass attitude of the writers is really nauseating. there is always more to the story and in this case it's just easy to dismiss rice as a wife beater and chastise anyone who says "but...". just another example of grandstanding that seems to permeate news "stories" anymore.

His twitter explanation didn't help him any afterwards.

Why was that? I think if you viewed the entire segment you wouldn't have an issue with what he said. Skip Bayless facial expressions and lack of response should have made that clear too. He is about as sensitive as they come to these issues and he comes off as genuine.
