In reality, talking about the physical characteristics of an arrogant ass like Dan is all fair as he does the same. It's comical how he talks about Wildebeests, Trestman.. and countless others as he can easily qualify under the Sandusky family tree of creeps.

You terming him as "a guy doing a job for a show and he's one of the most successful at in Chicago history" is a joke. Icons, talents, great personalities of Chicago radio...Dan will be EASILY forgotten or simply remembered for being the haughty person he is....nothing more...nothing less.

Don't confuse activity with accomplishment. The ratings show us that.

Mike North. Dan McNeil. Those are the only two with more success and as time goes on Bernstein is on a path to surpass North.

He's basically tied with Terry Boers since they have been together so long.

Much of Coppock's prime came before sports radio even really existed.

Coppock had a better career but it had a lot of things that weren't Chicago sports radio.

I wouldn't include Mike Greenberg either but in terms of careers he dwarfs everyone else in terms of success.

I don't even think Coppock is in Bernstein's league. Coppock did a night radio show for what? 10 years. I say you gotta be in morning or afternoon drive to really matter. You just don't have much of an audience at night.

Bernstein totally changed the culture of an entire radio station. Mac has even said this. All of the backups and/or parttimers fear him and they all try to be him. Coppock can't say that. Neither can Mac. But I will put Mac at 2nd all time in Chicago sports radio.

What about good ole Bruce Wolfe too. Chet Chit Chat was humorous. Hubener? I dare not mention his cohost. That always spot on guy J Hood?

The original comment was CHICAGO RADIO HISTORY..meaning ALL....which Bernstein does not even sniff. FYI...just because YOU state it as a fact doesn't make it so...this is a fact that is undeniable.

Let's not confuse activity with accomplishment, their 15 year run is mostly a by-product of radio execs content with the status quo as opposed to critical/commercial acclaim. That is the one "fact". Terry "Bobblehead" Boers occasionally shows up to work but can do his parrot act from home. The longest running bit on the afternoon show is not originally theirs but a Dan McNeil creation. Other "original" efforts have come and gone. Bernstein once was on the path to being what many want to credit him with but these days (and for a few years now) he is far more content to talk Anything. But. Sports. more often than not from his exaggerated soapbox.

Coppock deserves credit for a time when sports talk wasn't considered significant enough to merit a daytime audience, not his fault just the the thinking of the time. Dan McNeil, Chet's former producer, should get credit for creating the modern Chicago sports talk landscape (with a nod to North). He's been on two of the current three stations, changed show times as he's come and gone (any reason why WMVP still does their last hour?), and has helped spawn new talent in the market. That is a legacy that is undeniable.
