Greg Ma...

I'm kidding. But as a tail end of the rotation guy, he could definitely stick.

Alcantara is struggling with under .250BA.

Im more hopeful for Alcantara though. He was better in the minors than Lake. Hopefully it transfers.

really? I never thought Lake would amount to anything more than a 4th outfielder .

Bears repeating, he was 1/2 of the package for a half season of Ryan Dempster. What a magnificent heist.

Great heist

it bears repeating, Starlin Castro saw Lake in the minors and was ready to cede his position to him. He referred to him as one of the best shortstops he'd ever seen.

No, but let's be real here. The ulterior motive of this thread was to laugh when/if these guys fail.

Baez hits one onto Waveland,

Rizzo then completes a back to back.

Limited sample size BUT Hendricks,Arrietta, Wood,Wada, and one of Lester, Scherzer, Price wouldn't be too bad going forward

I thought Wada was 36 already. Now if Jacob Turner gets locked in then you are talking.

He will be 34 in February. I think he came over a few years ago with the Orioles and got hurt and never pitched in a big league game for them and the Cubs snagged him this past off season. So....he isn't dead yet but 2018 isn't waiting for him.

Don't know why the nickname "Johnny the" hasn't been popularized as of yet. I guess no one watched porn in the 70s-80s.

I was going to go with if he married Jen Lada she would be Jen Lada Wada

In limited viewing , It looks like Alcantara throws like a girl...this guy can't be a starting outfielder here, he's a dummy that misses the cutoff man to boot.

On the plus side, at least it looks like she was alive the last time the Cubs played in a World Series game.

I'm not going to bash the poor showing so far but the least Renteria can do is not have them bat 1st and 2nd, with one strikeout machine following the next!

Alcantara: 0-4
Bryant: TBD
Baez: TBD

JOE are you OK

No thoughts on #THE PLAN

How about a #WINNOW UPDATE

I know you have told us all over and over and over that ALL prospects will fail.

Come on speak up.

Now that the Cubs are bringing these guys up, will the next minor league rankings by the various websites exclude these guys from counting as prospects?

they should.

I'd like to see where the Cubs rank without Baez, Russell, Soler, Bryant et al.

You'd like to see where they'd rank if you removed the top 5 players?

Im gonna guess "not great"

BD... this is what BA goes with

What are the qualifications for a player to be on his organization's Top 10 Prospects list?

For a player to appear on a Top 10, he must not yet have reached the rookie minimums for at-bats (130) or innings (50) in the major leagues. Service time does not factor into this decision, so a player could spend three months in the big leagues while playing sparingly and still be eligible for a Top 10 list.
