Not at all, but that doesn't mean Griese can do it either. By no means is this a long-term fix, Nas. I expect the Bears to draft another QB next offseason and a promotion for Kyle Orton.

God help us if that happens.

Jeff Joniak now "Handoff to Benson, right side."

Next play

"handoff to Benson, up the middle."

3rd down

"handoff to Peterson, left side. Out comes the kicking team........"

They dont need Griese to be the answer for 5-6 years, just 2-3. Urlacher will be a shell of himself by the times hes 35-36. I think if they can get the oline and running game going, Griese has shown before that hes not a great NFL QB, but hes not a horrible one either. He can manage the game and if they can get a running game they will be fine. If they cant get a running game going they will have a high draft pick next year. I dont mean to simplify it but I think it is that simple really. Hes not gonna turn the ball over 3 times, but he most likely wont throw 3 TDs and 350 yds either. I think the rest of the season more or less rests in the hands of the oline and running game, and if they cant stay healthy on defense this is all void because they will be terrible if Briggs Vasher Harris and Brown are all out for alot of the year.

You really don't understand how QB's can improve from their rookie year do you?

Some do, some dont. You cant blame anyone who watched Orton play his rookie year who doesnt think he will improve.

None of this Orton talk matters now...Brian is our quarterback.
Maybe he can give us a Steve DeBerg-Kansas City Chief performance and give the Bears a solid 3 years so we don't have to waste this defense waiting for a young quarterback.

And then 3 years from now the team is right back to where they are now? Honestly, I think it is a travesty that Grossman is the #2 QB now ahead of Orton. So if Griese gets knocked out, we are forced to watch Rex again before even considering Orton? What the hell sense does that make?

I think the trade deadline is up in 2 weeks, and they arent resigning him. He basically has no trade value whatsoever right now.

If that actually works out and they get 3 solid years from Griese thats nothing to sneeze at. All they need is like a C+ from the QB position and if they get their running game on track then they will be fine. Obviously you would like to have a QB in early 20s, but I would rather have a 32 year old who can get the job done then a 26 year old that sucks but "has potential". That kind of talk is for non-contenders, and I dont think anyone in the organization thinks this team is a non-contender, nor should they.

Who cares who the #2 guy is on the depth chart...Only one guy plays at the QB position, the guy at #1. Rex won't be here next year anyway.

The fact that he sucks might also negatively impact his trade value.

What trade value? He's in the last year of his deal. I don't remember NFL teams making trades so deep into the season.
