mr. chicago used to wax poetic about "brothers in white t-shirts on chicago ave or whatever" well hey funny story... once i was in the neighborhood supporting the local economy (call it white guilt, call it what you will) and as i was walking out up chicago ave from homan there was a blue and white tahoe sitting there on one of the side streets just b4 you hit kedzie mall.... they called me over as i walked by and asked the question of the day: what was i doing down there?

naturally, i laughed in their face. "you wouldn't believe me if i told you" --- "oh yeah? try us.... are you here for the real estate deals?" "no, i'm actually some kind of a wannabe rapper so i was working on my street cred as it were, so i was just down here keeping it real with a few ciphers... you know, official rap business"

"you're a rapper... * look at each other and laugh * ok then kick something for us, rapper"

it's crazy to look back and think i was doing that dumb shit on one of goff's blocks. if only i had the werewithol to namedrop...
