hailing from the self-proclaimed "exceptional community", i was back in town the night that pat benatar was playing in their summer concert series. unfortunately for me like love itself elk grove is also a battlefield, and there's just so much dumb formative years shit there i don't need to unearth as i run into the aged lost souls of the people/families who didn't get out of there. plus there's that one family from one of those "we'll let you come over and drink at our house so you like our kid" houses that prolly still thinks i owe them a grand for a china cabinet that i kind of stumbled into inadvertantly after getting a fifth of ketel vert NO LESS THAN 4 FEET FROM WHERE THEY WERE SITTING, MIND YOU.

on the plus side though, i was figuring that the only people outside of locals showing up would be diehard middle aged HFC lesbians, so the mental image of this vast array of pathetic pudgy past-it pussypokers descending upon elk grove was just all kinds of hilarious to imagine, but then again i don't have a car either and elk grove is pretty much 99% "FUCK YOU" if you don't have a car so right back at ya buddy!

This is great stuff! There were a lot of drunk middle aged women there...lol! There were also some really nice looking 30-something dyed blondes floating around with tight jeans. These Elk Grove concerts are really catching on. They were not this popular a year or so ago. You can't beat the price and the talent is pretty good.

Meh. I actually saw them at red rocks zeitgeist era. Boo. I like billy at the metro or big timing it at the Aragon brawlroom otherwise hmmmph.

Just saw a show there for the first time. Kinda reminds me of if you took the first half of the FMBA pavilion and walled it off. Kinda stark, and does not have a theater-type look at all. Seats in the 200 section are kinda weird - they sit really low. Otherwise, good sightlines, not too large (3400 capacity), decent acoustics, and hey, it's climate-controlled. Too bad it's attached to the fucking Horseshoe and you have to walk all the way through that shithole to get to it.

Pre sale tickets for Volcano Choir go on sale tomorrow morning. They are playing Turner Hall in Milwaukee as
the last show of their world tour. Band consists of lead singer and members of Bon Iver and another band
Collection of Colonies of Bees. Last album Repave was very good. Turner Hall is a very small venue and
should be a cool place to see them play.
