I need to sleep on this one. I'm sure I'll have at least on Johnny Cash song, and probably a Pearl Jam or two.

this one hurts because years ago i composed my own cover of that song, and thought i was really clever for it (i also did one for "cheer up charlie"), and then my then-girlfriend gave me that album, and i heard that song, and my heart dropped.

i still get good vibes from my version but the ego was ripped out of me.

you're right though, it is a very nice cover. as duvall, they also did a great cover of "true".

Those crazy Caterer brothers....saw 'em in March and they said they'd have a new record coming out this fall, and I haven't heard anything about it since then, which is disappointing.

i used to know the guitarist...not josh, but his brother. i can't remember his damn now...i knew him through his girlfriend (who was my girlfriend's sister), who lives in delaware. they're since broken up and now she's married, but he used to come out and visit, and i met him a few times. i met josh once, too, but he wasn't in the best of moods i guess...his wife was really nice.

they record when they feel like it..or when god asks them to i guess.

I think you need to post your cover. I'll decide which one is better.

You're probably thinking of Matt or Eli. I met Eli when he was playing with Sundowner back in May. Nice guy.

Goldfinger actually does a blistering sub-2 minute version of this that's quite good as well.

Metallica's renditions of Seger's "Turn the Page" and Billie Holiday's "Loverman" are better than the originals.

"Whiskey In The Jar" is solid as well. However, their Motörhead covers are painful.
