I have read posts about renewing his contract for another five years despite averaging 100 losses in his three years.

as i was waiting for the liverpool/maanU game on FS1 last night i had their sportscenter knockoff program on, and without listening to the actual punditry i noticed the graphic had the titans and falcons logos with the text saying something like "NEED THEIR PLAYERS TO HAVE GOOD YEARS" and i was like "oh yeah, it's time for NFL preseason"

To this day, it is still the best sandwich I ever ate. I can still remember it clearly.

I'm going to give Cub fans a couple days here.

Me too Doc I am laying low on the subject.

When can we look forward to someone, anyone, replacing Schierholtz in the lineup?

Coughlan, IMO, has earned the right to start everyday. He should be in there.

Outfield should be Coughlan, Alcantara, Ruggiano right now. Once Soler is up in September he can take Ruggiano's spot. Cut Sweeney and Schierholtz. Keep Lake as a body.

Sweeney is signed through next year.

Sweeney should be kept over Lake on the ML roster.

I agree with the rest of Big Chicagoan's post.

Sweeney blows, he never should have been signed.

If Sweeney blows, what is your analysis of Junior Lake?

Sweeney has a better OPS and plays much better defense. He also makes more "productive outs."

My opinion on lake is he is not good...but he is 5 years younger with more power...Sweeney is 30

And Olt has more power than both.

Doesn't mean he is better than Player X or Player Y.

Embrace OPS... OPS doesn't lie.

OPS tells you both are bad, but Lake is worse.

Lake should go to AAA and get with Manny then come back after the minor league season ends and see if he learned anything.

Olt - he can go to the A.L. and DH

I haven't read the whole thread but what does everyone think Baez will end being?

I say 2B for the short term with him being a .240/25/70/.285 guy with solid D which is more than acceptable for 2B.

Combine him with

CF Alcantara with Almora long term
SS Castro or Russell long term with either Castro or Bryant to OF or Castro traded for pitching
1B Rizzo
3B Bryant
RF Soler
2B Baez
LF Scwaber/Cunningham long term but Coghlan next year
C Castillo

And then we have something (assuming Ricketts tells Daddy to give him some money so he can buy some pitching)...

:D :D :D :D

Olt has value. He gone. Sweeney is a waste. Lake needs to learn how to hit in AAA with Manny...

I'd be happy with right-handed Pedro Alvarez, no matter where he plays defensively. I'd be ecstatic if the 30+ HR power remains while being able to consistently hit .270 or above, rather than .230.

But 2B is a good spot for him.

People here hate Pedro Alvarez after all the promise. He hits 240 and throws the ball into the stands. You better hope he isn't him.

IMU is well known to not give a shit about CSFMB's consensus on topics. And this is good, because when I call for a prospect to do well, I'm a homer. In this case, I have reasonable expectations because it makes sense. Baez has some holes as a player. He could turn into a superstar if it all comes together. But this isn't Kris Bryant. Baez is documented as being less of a sure thing.

If you remove Alvarez's terrible 2011, he has a career .770 OPS. Certainly not terrible for a guy that hits .230.

The bottom line is they are putting together a monster HR based offense.

Will it play in OCT?

Let's hope we find out by 2017 at the latest.

Sign Lester & someone else good (maybe Shields?) and they will contend next year.

I'm not expecting superstar numbers out of him. If he can hit 25 HR's a year and maybe .250-.260 I'd be happy.

No problem I am not a pirates fan just giving caution to promise even after a great start.

BULLSHIT (not to you and IMU) but many have been shoving this Baez up ouor ass for 2 years that he will be Roberto Alomar.

Do we have an over-under on total bases? I'm jonesin' for some action. I'll set it at 4. 600 ft. HR, K, K, popout to 3rd base.

Alomar is a very lofty goal. Hendry drafted him which puts him behind the 8 ball right off the bat.

The thing that's weird is that many think that AA is better than AAA as far as caliber of talent. So he hit .294 in AA and .260 in AAA?

Who gives a shit....he's up and it will be interesting to see what happens.
