BULLSHIT (not to you and IMU) but many have been shoving this Baez up our ass for 2 years that he will be Roberto Alomar.

Alomar is a very lofty goal. Hendry drafted him which puts him behind the 8 ball right off the bat.

The thing that's weird is that many think that AA is better than AAA as far as caliber of talent. So he hit .294 in AA and .260 in AAA?

Who gives a shit....he's up and it will be interesting to see what happens.

Let it play out. Good luck to you Matt. 8)

Coughlan, IMO, has earned the right to start everyday. He should be in there.

Outfield should be Coughlan, Alcantara, Ruggiano right now. Once Soler is up in September he can take Ruggiano's spot. Cut Sweeney and Schierholtz. Keep Lake as a body.

Schierholtz should be waived. He will only take up valuable at bats and is clearly not a part of the teams future. Lake has been given enough chances to know that he too, will not be a part of the club once it's good. Too many strikeouts. A .242 OBP doesn't cut it. The .215 average is bad, but he doesn't walk enough to help himself out either. If he did, his speed might be a better utilized tool. I agree about Coughlan. That was a move that has gone largely under the radar. He has been outstanding over the last 5-6 weeks. Looking forward to Soler in September, if not sooner.

Anderson is leaving the ballgame in the 4th inning. He took one look at Baez in the on deck circle and pretended to tweak his back. We know what's really going on....He knows he was lucky to get him out in the first and didn't want to push his luck any more.

No one here has seriously said he is going to be Alomar.

Alomar was a high average guy with 15-20 HR power in his prime years

Nobody thinks Baez will be a high average guy. His ceiling is 30-35 home runs. He's got a sluggers swing and he's gonna strike out 150 plus times during a season. You just hope he gets 100 walks with those strike outs. Alomar wasn't a slugger nor did he strikeout like a slugger. Never over 100 SO in a season. Below 80 in his prime years.

So anybody thinking he's Alomar is just stupid

Ok I am not fooling around joking. Just looked at box. Cubs one runs and Baez 0-3. Did he look good? Ground outs, strike outs, liners to an outfielder?

2 ks. Both pretty bad. The second on a pitch over his shoulders.
Early yips.

That is what I figured. These kids can't all come up like Trout and jump it. They are going to face the best pitchers they have ever seen and also have pride.

The K in the 1st wasn't too bad. Worked to 2-2, fouled a few off. Got him on a bit of a hanging curve. 2nd AB was a fairly hard ground out to 3rd.

He's never going to walk 100 times. You have to hope he'll cut down the Ks.

There is going to be some significant struggles with Baez. Probably worse than Rizzo because Rizzo aways took walks and kept the opb respectable

Btw, Mike if Pirates fans hate Pedro Alvarez they're dumb

Think I'll give him a few more PAs before I deem him a career minor leaguer

He doesn't née to walk 100 tines. If he hits 35 homers (that's the hypothetical BD posted) than the strikeouts won't be a big issue

I don't have a whole lotta faith in Baez...Hendry-wilken guy.

I'm banking on Bryant and Russell n Soler .

I can't stand guys who strike out @ an obscene rate n swing for the fences...

I'm watching the Tigers Yanks on MLB network n RICH HILL just ca  me in from the Yankee pen.

Maybe misspoke. They actually love him but are very disappointed in his play this year.

Let's hope we find out by 2017 at the latest.

Sign Lester & someone else good (maybe Shields?) and they will contend next year.

I'M hoping Price doesn't want to live in Detroit n tests Freeagency...the Cubs could grab him.

I still don't know what to make of Wilken. Since he joined the Cubs in 2007, the Cubs haven't had any legit pitching come through the system. Before Wilken, the Cubs had decent minor league pitchers come up every year, be it Wuertz or Wellemeyer. His positional picks have all turned out to be strikeout kings, like Vitters. Will Baez fit that bill? Don't know.

So that's an earned run for the pitcher on a play a major league 2B should make in his sleep.
