Don't worry Sox fans there's soon to be a few more elite Cubs prospects that you can root against in their own threads.

I remember Cubs fans making fun of the White Sox for being a home run or bust team.

I believe len said last night the Cubs have the most hits of any team in the MLB since July 1. Might have been just the NL, either way....they havent given up 143 runs in the last 3 games.

Either the Cubs succeed, and I'm happy, or the Cubs fail and 8675309 is miserable. No matter what I win!

He would do much better with the Sox due to the latin culture Ventura and Coop promote

I think there's a cultural thing with White Sox fans-especially oldtimers- where they have this disdain for the home run that Cub fans don't have. And I think that has to do with the respective ballparks- old Comiskey and Wrigley. The Cubs had Hack Wilson and Ernie and Kingman banging homers while the Sox were alway light-hitting, fast, with good pitching and defense. A guy like Aggravated Bob was never going to embrace Dunn even if he had had his best season in a Sox uniform.

What about the South Side Hitmen? Wasn't that team beloved?

Yeah, but that was a freakish thing. It was like the anti-White Sox. No pitching, 100 errors in the infield, and sluggers everywhere. Definitely a fun team.

But all the old guys I know are always complaining about "too many homers", "not enough doubles", "not enough speed on the bases", "station to station". I'd take 200 homers and no fucking stolen bases and just hope for good enough pitching.

Those 200 HRs in 2005 really sullied the season ...

A lot of Sox fans pretend they didn't happen and act like that was some kind of "smallball" team.

I don't think it is a bad thing.

I know it goes against the current grain but I don't like strikeouts. I like contact hitters. I like patient hitters. I don't want a home run or bust team.
if Baez gets patient, I like him a whole lot more.

But I think some of the reason for the high K rates across baseball is that hitters are being trained to be too patient.

Joe it wasn't just Sox fans don't you remember Kenny telling everyone how the team was built on "pitching, speed and defense" and it was built to go DEEP into playoffs year after year?

The Dick Allen era was my first year having Sox season tickets... it was one of the most fun seasons I remember.

So, you want Miguel Cabrera. Those type of hitters don't exactly grow on trees.
