So, you want Miguel Cabrera. Those type of hitters don't exactly grow on trees.

that's why Theo is here. That's why a major market team has sucked as hard as a major market team should be allowed to suck. To find such a tree and such a hitter.

He's saying the GM's job is to find elite talent. Bit of a stretch.

when part of the GM's plan is to lose to the point of getting a top 3 pick and he then gets a shot at a top three pick not once but multiple times, he must be held responsible for those premium picks.

Theo is also attempting to assemble slightly lower level talent in droves. But that does not negate that he is looking to add at least one potential GOAT hitter or pitcher.

Do you expect him to find Cabrera? I think Reasonable Cub Fan Kirkwood agrees with me.

I expect him to find the best hitter available for that year in the draft if he's in the top 3. So does every other baseball fan if their GM is drafting that high.

Its hard to expect a once in a generation hitter but I expect him to find good/great ones

Keep in mind CoF likes to be the hipster against the grain fan.

A hipster doofus! Am I a hipster doofus, Jerry?

No, I prefer to be myself. I can both be critical of Theo and prefer him to other alternatives.

I think there's a cultural thing with White Sox fans-especially oldtimers- where they have this disdain for the home run that Cub fans don't have. And I think that has to do with the respective ballparks- old Comiskey and Wrigley. The Cubs had Hack Wilson and Ernie and Kingman banging homers while the Sox were alway light-hitting, fast, with good pitching and defense. A guy like Aggravated Bob was never going to embrace Dunn even if he had had his best season in a Sox uniform.

What about the South Side Hitmen? Wasn't that team beloved?

I was thinking the same thing when I read JORR's post.

My 1st exposure to Harry and Jimmy.

And how about this nugget: After weeks of holding out for Ron Guidry as a toss-in to the April 5 Bucky Dent trade with the Yankees on April 5, the White Sox took future Cy Young winner LaMarr Hoyt instead.

2 bad at bats so far tonight. Has seen 2 pitches, not the ideal approach you want to have.

If we're projecting, if he plays 150 games per year, he's going to average 75 home runs per season.

I don't know what that WAR is, but I'm guessing that's good for 3 wins per year.

He might be Adam Dunn, Cubs fans. The White Sox version. Not the Reds/Nationals version.
