When I had a job with the Cook County Circuit Court I saw a lot of people accept pleas for crimes they didn't commit or could be proven because they didn't have lawyers and were afraid of a worst case scenario. I personally know of people that have done the same. They justified it by saying "It's just probation or 30 days" without understanding how that decision would prevent them from getting some good jobs in the future. I believe many first time criminals are innocent.

Scorehead....That is merely my opinion ...of course there is no actual quantifable way to determine the actual number...its a know nothing job that has many perks n easy 65K plus salary with bennies...more than half aren't equipped to effectively do this job .

great point NAS...I PLead guilty to a felony as as a teen...I was tired of fighting my case from Cook county jail n all these attorneys wanted 8-13 K to see the case through...every time these fucks file a motion its like a cash register ...I wasn't concerned about a felony working construction ...hell I knew 2 guys I worked with had served longgg stretches in the joint...one for man slaughter...everything was cool til 911.....it changed EVERYTHING ...I'm not even allowed at many facilities n plants as a felon now.

My brother in law is a Chicago cop and he's as lazy as they come. Many stories about finding a place to fall asleep or getting drunk on the job. Now they supposedly check or something when you get off your shift. You have cops that don't want to get involved and cops who go out looking for people to bother. I personally prefer somewhere in the middle but I would choose my brother in law's approach over a wannabe cowboy.

I'm not saying all cops are dumb, but my brother in law is one. That speaks volumes about the profession. He might be the dumbest, laziest person I know. He is also a raging racist, as is every other member of his department. Still has the Confederate flag up in his truck. I don't have a great deal of respect for the position, though I'm sure there are some good ones.

It's actually a terrible comparison, as one would think a police officer is a select group of educated individuals, which is the point... that they aren't necessarily educated at all. It's a profession, not an ethnic group.
