Hmmm. Yeah good petty song. Manson. Hated the guy but the man you hate was a good song. Big NIN fan so I had to give him a fair shake.

Apropos of nothing, Steve Vai's brother owns a restaurant in downtown Glen Ellyn.

It's called Fire & Wine. There's a picture of them on the wall near the bar. I asked the bartender about it and the owner came over. I told him that the thing I remembered most about Vai was playing the devil in the post-Karate Kid Ralph Macchio vehicle, Crossroads.

Macchio smoked him. No one beats Ralph. Not johnny, not pony boy no one.

Crazy though I have to check it out.

I had to look that up. I'm assuming Vai played his part too--who else could play like that. In any case, worth the drive. MILF central on weekends.

Cheap Trick would be my answer to this question. But it didn't really take long for me to love them. The first time I saw them they were opening for Rush at the Aragon. My friends and I were all classic rock/metal guys and those weirdos took the stage and we were like "what the fuck is this?". I feel kind of dumb for not recognizing their greatness that night. But I was a sheep back then. I've probably seen them about twenty times since then though.

I used to think Interpol was really shitty and not worth my time. I relented a little bit on this eventually, especially "Specialist," but they still fell a little short for me even when I "got it."

Yes. Saturday-Sunday for sure. Debating about Friday.

Interesting double bill. Cheap Trick had major league chick appeal. They all probably left after CT finished their set and before Rush launched into a technically perfect rendition of Cygnus X-1.

I think it was the Farewell To Kings Tour. We were in seventh or eighth grade. One of my friends had a sister in high school with a stoner boyfriend who hooked us up with some weed for the show.

Yeah. "Untitled" from Turn on The Bright Lights is pretty much the only song with any kind of memorable feeling for me.
Pretty overrated. And opening for U2 in the daylight on the 360 tour at Soldier Field was pretty miserable.
(I do have all their records though....)

The biggest was Derailed. Absolutely nothing. I was running a record company at the time and I couldn't even justify putting out a 7". Just awful.

I ended up playing graduation parties later with a weezer cover band. My shame is great.

Yeah, sitting here today singing along to OHHHHH, VALENCIA-AH-AHHHHH. It's been a long way down.

I also want to add, with great shame, that I think I'm finally coming around on Ryan Adams. I used to be like "well, 'This House Is Not For Sale' and 'New York, New York' are fine, but what a stupid prick who makes too many albums," and then I started liking a couple other songs, and now I like his new song and maybe Ryan Adams isn't all that bad.

Ryan Adams isn't terrible. He is pretty much an artist. Some good tracks.

Ghostface Killah for me. I hated the guy. Whinny, least talented of the clan. Missed iron man. Had no interest. Then came Fishscale. Fuck yeah. Sans liquid swords became my favorite solo wu album to date. Shakey Dog is a fucking great heist song better than kick in the door.
