hailing from the self-proclaimed "exceptional community", i was back in town the night that pat benatar was playing in their summer concert series. unfortunately for me like love itself elk grove is also a battlefield, and there's just so much dumb formative years shit there i don't need to unearth as i run into the aged lost souls of the people/families who didn't get out of there. plus there's that one family from one of those "we'll let you come over and drink at our house so you like our kid" houses that prolly still thinks i owe them a grand for a china cabinet that i kind of stumbled into inadvertantly after getting a fifth of ketel vert NO LESS THAN 4 FEET FROM WHERE THEY WERE SITTING, MIND YOU.

on the plus side though, i was figuring that the only people outside of locals showing up would be diehard middle aged HFC lesbians, so the mental image of this vast array of pathetic pudgy past-it pussypokers descending upon elk grove was just all kinds of hilarious to imagine, but then again i don't have a car either and elk grove is pretty much 99% "FUCK YOU" if you don't have a car so right back at ya buddy!

Was that audioslave at Tinley? Last touring lolla? If so I didn't think he was bad at all but I might be confused on the dates.

No, it was their first tour right after the S/T album was released at The Riv. The show was awful.

I did catch them at that Lolla show, and he was better there.

Didn't see the riv show but yeah dl'd it wasn't good kinda thought it was the recording though it was really poor. Wait was it the riv or the Vic?

It was definitely at The Riv.

This was the show: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/audioslave/2003/riviera-theater-chicago-il-73ddc6b1.html
It was actually in 2003.

This is great stuff! There were a lot of drunk middle aged women there...lol! There were also some really nice looking 30-something dyed blondes floating around with tight jeans. These Elk Grove concerts are really catching on. They were not this popular a year or so ago. You can't beat the price and the talent is pretty good.

I didn't really feel like starting a new thread for this, but what the hell is wrong with these people? You are witnessing a rape, and all you do is pull out your phone and take pictures and video? Why not step in and pull this animal off the woman he is raping? These people should all be charged as accomplices. One person helped out, in a crowd of probably thousands.

Quote:
A teenage girl was raped at the same Keith Urban show where 20 people got so drunk they were hospitalized, police said.
The attack happened in front of a large crowd of other concertgoers on the lawn of the Xfinity Center, an outdoor amphitheater in Mansfield, Massachusetts, on Saturday night, a police statement said.

The rape ended when a woman in the crowd pushed the alleged attacker off the victim and he fled, police said.
Sean Murphy, 18, was arrested "a short time later" and charged with rape, police said.

"Officers conducting the investigation were assisted by patrons that had been concerned and took photos and video of the assault on their cellular phones," the Mansfield Police statement said. "Those phones are being processed to recover the digital evidence of the assault. "Murphy entered a not guilty plea in court and was released on $10,000 bond.

Taking pictures and hiding is exactly what a lot of board members say should be done.

So you aren't going to find a lot of people on your side with this one

welcome to the human race in the year of our lord, 2014. i'd say this phenomenon you speak of is inherently on the digital age, but i think there's more cultural elements at work, such as family guy being a barometer of the overall sense of humor of society when it essentially waters down the art of the clever pop/culture reference from making a point/statement/criticism of the thing being referenced to merely being like "HEY I REMEMBER THAT THING FROM THE 1980S!!!!" * laugh track *

ergo, since people are inherently getting to be less and less "cool" in a fit of ultra-consumerism as time goes on, simply providing evidence of "being there" around a !!! happening has become the #1 goal of people who aren't able to go out and live a few stories that end up being the type told by old past-it coots like me and JORR when we pipe up to remind you that "we were there!"

and hey, say what you will about the whole situation.... but at least that chick found out she was literally in a mansfield, eh?

In the fall Judas Priest is playing the "pete" here on campus. I shall attend. 8)

Also, it appears half my FB friend list was at Alice Cooper / Motley Crue last night.

Just saw a show there for the first time. Kinda reminds me of if you took the first half of the FMBA pavilion and walled it off. Kinda stark, and does not have a theater-type look at all. Seats in the 200 section are kinda weird - they sit really low. Otherwise, good sightlines, not too large (3400 capacity), decent acoustics, and hey, it's climate-controlled. Too bad it's attached to the fucking Horseshoe and you have to walk all the way through that shithole to get to it.

Pre sale tickets for Volcano Choir go on sale tomorrow morning. They are playing Turner Hall in Milwaukee as
the last show of their world tour. Band consists of lead singer and members of Bon Iver and another band
Collection of Colonies of Bees. Last album Repave was very good. Turner Hall is a very small venue and
should be a cool place to see them play.

I've got the Essential Neil Diamond 2 disc collection at home. No need to see him live.

Looking forward to seeing them. I bought tickets when their first album came out but
