I sense too much Sports Talk Radio in you. Even when the team or player experiences success, you still question management. So maybe Theo let him simmer just perfectly in the minors that he is now safe and tasty to consume. I guess we'll never know.

As I expected. Let's attack that Pasta guy no matter his opinion but the fact remains during a lost season, they didn't know what they had in Hendrix. He sat at Iowa wasting his arm on minor league innings. It's not like a position player who can get some "seasoning" in the minors. A pitcher has only so many miles on that arm. They had us looking at a failed Travis Wood and a terrible Edwin Jackson all year. Surely, they could have called this Hendricks up a few months earlier.

Attack Pasta? No Im attacking your contradictory position.

In your world, they cant win. No matter what the prospect does you will complain.

What failed Travis Wood mean?

And to think a pitcher cant get better in the minors is beyond ridiculous.

I guess they knew when he was ready, because he's excelling. Maybe he wasnt ready earlier in the year?

I mean for rakim's sake Jimmy, you're still trying to find a way to get Rizzo OUT of the the lineup because you had a boner for Bryan LaHair.

You just bitch to bitch and you're making less and less sense as the days and weeks go by.

Prosepects are starting to come up and there are some encouraging signs. Enjoy it....or at least pay attention so that your complaints arent completely ludicrous

Despite your opinions being attacked 100% of the time, it is still them being attacked. Not you.

With your logic, when used properly, the Cubs should just shut down Kyle Hendricks and Jake Arrieta for the rest of the season. This season is lost; you admit it yourself. It has been before the season started. Why pitch these guys at all, at any level? It is unnecessary mileage, is it not?

Well said.

There is no proper time to bring up a player in Jimmy's world.

Spiegel actually suggested that with regard to Arrieta.

Arrieta was suggested due to the fact he did get over an injury and started the season late. He throws harder than I expected on a number of pitches. He throws 94, with plenty of 79 MPH changes.

So the conclusion amongst the board Cub fans is we couldn't use a lights out starting pitcher with excellent control earlier in the season...ok,got it!

We had Shark and Hammel in the rotation jimmy......

And Hendricks will regress and you'll bitch when he does. Right now he has an insane strand rate. He's always been higher than league average in the minors but right now he's at 88%. That's amazing!

Jimmy, let's face it, you are going to have to like Theo at some point. :D

It's coming.

You know in our lifetime we have heard about players coming up in a system, youth movements, etc etc...and if 1 guy even became OK, thats was a big accomplishment.

This bandwagon is about to take off, but I stand by my word,. Saving a seat for you!

Just remember that before you crucify jimmy once again, the majority of Cubbie Nation operates under the "Winning is bad until it's time for winning to be good" which basically gives Theo a free pass for whatever happens.

Not saying it is wrong, but even right now Theo is put in a no lose situation.

I know, now tell me that Theo has to win a World Series or something else. I'm pretty sure Jimmy will say Theo did a good job if he wins a World Series too.

If he wins only one, IMU would think he's a failure.

Put all that long view stuff aside and focus on the specific issue that Hendricks should have been called up earlier. Its indefensible.

And remember, the problem here is that the Cubs player is TOO GOOD

In fairness, didn't you say you wanted the Cubs to try and be competitive this year at the end of last year too?

Yes, but in reality, they brought up Hendricks at the right time.

He had a completely normal progression. He made 22-25 starts at A, AA, and then AAA. He wasnt held back and he wasnt even dominant in AAA. There was absolutely ZERO reason to bring him up.

And the fact remains. He's good so Jimmy says he should have been here earlier and you know if he was bad Jimmy would be ripping that.

Im being nice to Jimmy here. This is just bullshit that makes no sense and Im treating it as such. Not everything he says is wrong. He has some legitimate points and complaints. This is not one of them.

Cubs management has been forthright with their development path. They want every player to have success at each level in the minors and complete a certain numbers of games. Once they have nothing to learn in the minors, they will be brought up.

I'll give Theo high points on fishing out pitching talent both young and seasoned but even there he screwed up big with Jackson and Veras. All GM's make mistakes though. From day 1 he has wanted weak rosters so he could get better draft picks. Playing a Mike Olt & Nate Schierholtz most of the season tells me they wanted to fail. Does anybody disagree with that?
