No.

Yeah...perpetuating falsehoods is an option as well.

I'll give Theo high points on fishing out pitching talent both young and seasoned but even there he screwed up big with Jackson and Veras. All GM's make mistakes though. From day 1 he has wanted weak rosters so he could get better draft picks. Playing a Mike Olt & Nate Schierholtz most of the season tells me they wanted to fail. Does anybody disagree with that?

Most people thought Olt had a shot to be a good player this year and as bad as he was the power kept him up because its hard to give up on that.

I dont think they play guys so they'll lose. Its not like there were a ton of better options

RPB,
If they would have brought Hendriks up and he sucked, than I would have wanted them to bring up someone else. I look forward to guys coming up from the minors. I just want to see SOMETHING positive. If it's chasing some FA hitters in the winter or bringing up some minor league guys at least it's movement. What killed the Cubs this year is poor hitting from 3rd base & the OF in the early part of the season. This Coghlan guy might be something. It seems like even when he makes an out,it's hit hard.

You said what you said. Its in my sig for a reason. Only after you caught a bunch of shit did you back track and attempt to put your Bill James hat on to make an arbitrary points system that nobody other than yourself cares about.

I understand what you want. But now were starting to see just a little bit of the future. Id say enjoy it. Hendricks wasnt lighting the world on fire in AAA and as Kirkwood noted, he'll likely regress.

To address this, the Cubs have said it makes no sense to spend money to be a .500 team. So while they aren't intentionally losing, they are not signing guys with the goal of winning 85 games this year or last. When guys like Schwarber make a big league impact, folks will look back and say it made sense not to waste money, finish with 85-ish wins, and then have a middling draft pick. They will say the losing was worth it because we got Bryant and Schwarber, and X (2015 draft pick).

Agree, I doubt Hendricks is the answer. It's nice to see him doing well, but there should be significant regression. I am more hopeful that Arrieta may be one real piece.

Why do Sox fans get to determine what makes Theo and Jed's tenure a success or failure? Shouldn't the teams fans decide that?

For me...it would be a World Series victory...or at least several playoff appearances with a few NLCS appearances, or a World Series appearance or two.

A 2005 White Sox situation, to me, would be a failure.

Regular season record over the course of the tenure? Meh. That would heavily rely on how long the tenure is. 2016 and 2017 field only .500 teams? Not long. 2016 and 2017 are NLCS / World Series appearances and losses? Theo and Jed get a 8 year extension and have a lot more time to crest .500.

Look at the sentence right above your quote of mine. Does that seem like I'm saying one World Series would be a failure, when I'm saying a success could possibly include NO World Series?

Comprehension is a skill, friend.

If you define average as SHARK, then yes you are twice as sharp.

What will the goal be next year? 95 wins?

My goal....to see players develop. I won't put a win total on it. A lineup with Castro, Rizzo, Baez, eventually Soler, Bryant, maybe we start climbing out of the basement. When the Theo regime came in, I thought 2015 would be a 90+ win season. I doubt there is any chance of that now.

Yes, I believe the plan will work. I am on record with that prediction. I wish I could tell you when it will fully ripen. We are just starting to see the minor league pipeline.

So when does it become the "right thing" to try and win 95 games?
