During a panel discussion, a woman asked McDonough why they still have scantily-clad ice girls and strippers playing Shoot The Puck when so much of the NHL's audience is female and has no interest in such objectification, to which McDonough reportedly went "u-hhum-uh-duh-buh-buh-buh-buh-duh-whuuuh take it under advisement." Then permatanned diphit Mark Giangreco introduced Jonathan Toews's girlfriend as the "Lady Ba-Da-Bing Trophy." Twitter is mad.

Strap in, things will only get worse from here.

If "people on Twitter" are saying it, I'm sure Dan's heard about it.

They should have a separate raffle where a few select winners get blow jobs from the ice girls during intermission

Every team does it ,even the little independent team where I live has them. All it is a version of cheerleaders. Maybe they need to sex up the guys who do the work as well like the Zamboni drivers.

As for the hot chick in shoot the puck, big deal they have a total balance in it,a dude a kid and a chick.

"Hot chick" and "little kid" is an equivalency I don't even want to plumb, chaspoppcap.

What I meant was they have total diversity. They have a person from every category even borrowing the 7th inning tradition from Cubs of having some celeb trying to make a shot.

Not sure if there was anything more nauseating than Giangreco's forced, awkward, synergistic "quick hits" on AM1000. The cynical "seen-it-all" posture taken by a talking head who works an hour a day for 7 (seven) figures made me want to torture and kill him.

I take myself away from the television during intermissions, but people have brought up that it's especially tacky for Pellico to play "The Stripper" when the woman is shooting the puck. I kind of have to agree. Can you agree that that can be done away with?

The larger point here is that the NHL, much more than the NFL in spite of all its pinkwashing, is seeing a huge rise in female fans (read: consumers) who don't just tag along to be "tee-hee just one of the guys" but are often indeed earnest fans of the game on par with any male. Moreover, hockey fandom, being largely contiguous with the more liberal areas of North America, tends to skew pretty progressive these days. That fans aren't exactly feeling the whole ice girl thing anymore is to be expected in 2014.

If what Susannah Collins did was so offensive they wanted her shitcanned and they feel comfortable doing that, well there's not a big enough hypocrisy hammer to hit McDonough with.

No, there's not, and I think most of us noticed that last year during that whole fiasco.

How refreshing, though, that high-priority concerns for the Blackhawks front office are things like sexist intermission shows and not things like "being really shitty at winning games and signing players" like the other teams.

complaining about using people as sex objects to sell tickets at what is essentially a boy band style convention; attended by girls who stand in line for hours to get up-close and personal with their blackhawk dreamboats.

Or not. Nothing to see here.

Back in the Dark Ages, the "shoot the puck girl" was a sight to behold. They've tamed that WAY down.

Way too many people worried about others & looking for something to bitch & moan about. Who the hell cares who shoots the puck during intermission?

speaking of worse, CH.... dude, call it a hunch that you have a special place in your heart for the landwhales/pronoun-sensitive people of tumblr..... so have you heard about their recent attempt to have a convention here in chicago?

truly fucking epic stuff. get to this highlight video quickly cuz i think the asian girl in the beginning and/or tumblr social justice squad are DMCAing these videos (because if you can get the DMCA enacted, anyone who fights it will essentially have to dox themselves to fight back) >> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KM2vpz179g

oh yeah, and in the end.... someone pissed in the ball-pit it was so hilarious that denny's even took a shot @ it on their official blog >> http://blog.dennys.com/post/91950917438 ... you-get-an

i posted an early dashcon video to my facebook and described it "this has to be one of dante's rings of hell, right?"

Image

FOR ANYONE WHO WON'T WATCH THE VID / READ THE STORY (SPOILERS CONTAINED WITHIN):

basically, tumblr got together to make a convention and expected 3000-5000 people. they got 500-1000. the main "attraction" was some band/artist/performer named "night vale" however they didn't show up because the dashcon people didnt pay for their travel/lodging expenses. they kept the crowd waiting all day and then finally announced that because of a lil snafu night vale won't be showing up..... and of course they blamed 4chan for this and said that evil 4chan went out to ruin the convention and in fact now they can't even afford to pay the hotel for the convention so they need to raise money A$AP so get on kickstarter and let's make it go!

they got 17 grand out of the poor lost souls..... and celebrated by group-singing "WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!" and then some ppl did their due diligence and talked to the hotel about the finances and the hotel was like "huh? we were paid up front" so basically it turns out this whole thing was likely just a total scam by the event organizers to milk a bunch of $$$ out of dumbass tumblrers.

BUT HEY DON'T WORRY, THE ORGANIZERS HAD THE VIPs BACKS! that's right.... anyone who shelled out a few hundred (guessing) for a "VIP" pass didnt get the "hang with the entertainers we're bringing in" that they were promised.... instead they got an extra hour in the ball pit (see above) and legend is that someone pissed in the ball pit so yeah..... that mental image of dumbass tumblr SJW landwhales dancing around in a $2 ballpit to try and be tragically hip and cool (like modern irony) were dancing in piss. </symbolism>

This is where i thought it was going, but McD would have skipped it under some policy statement of not talking aboit ex employees,

Yeah, the Dashcon clusterfuck was hilarious. I've learned in my cobbled-together career that despite the best intentions, some people have no business trying to put on a show. People who sit around writing fan fiction about Benedict Cumberbatch getting pregnant from a dog don't even have any business leaving the house.

Connor McKnight very much wants to be on the Right Side of History on this issue tonight. Based on what he's said in the past, Dan "It's Boobie Season!" Bernstein will have a hard time (believably) doing the same.

Not to be confused with the beginning of the WNBA season which is "Wildebeest Season"...except for the pretty white girl. She's OK.

It's okay because he is speaking factually. He's not sexist or sexually awkward in any way at all ever.
