Jackson, a first-round pick in 2009, had a brief call-up to the Cubs in 2012, hitting .175 with 59 strikeouts in 120 at-bats. He was hitting .210 with five home runs this year at Triple-A Iowa.


If Baez has 59 strikeouts in 120 AB's and bats around .200 should the Cubs send him down?

If you're asking if they should be treated exactly the same the answer is no. They are different players with different expectations and different production levels.

All I'm saying is after about watching 2/3's of a season watching Mike Olt hit a HR and then KO the next 15 AB's. I don't want to see a repeat with Baez. His BA & OBP needs to be decent,too.

A .260 average and OBP of .340 or so is not much to ask in 2014.

That's reasonable, but he's going to strikeout a lot. He'll likely hit for enough power to make up for it.

He is exciting but I thought Jackson was . Jackson was pretty fast,seemed like a good OF but another in the long line of Cub prospect OF flops.

Actually, that is completely unreasonable for the rest of the season since he didn't put up those numbers in AAA. Maybe in 2015 you can expect something closer to that.

let me give you the HUGE difference, they are getting Baez out on 79 MPH off speed junk or a high fast ball, that can be learned and Baez has demonstrated to get used to these pitches at each level. Olt is 4 years older and had his chances, he couldnt stop swinging at sliders out of the zone.

Of course Baez needs to get better, assume this with everyone from now on.
