Franky T has succumbed to the B&B love. He was a good man. One of us. RIP Franky T.

I just got caught up in the emotion of the 15 year anniversary coupled with the news of Mac being gone. Not to mention the appearance of Jigs. Nostalgia got the better of me for a moment.

Sterling got a pass, first a weekend pass and then an unconditional one.
Reinsdorf has a lifetime golden circle, I-can't-type/say-enough-words-pass.

Just short of punching his black girlfriend (non-help/employee) in the face and her getting video tape of it happening and then not choosing to release it but it getting released.

And even then, he's too old and too _______ to have hurt her the way the way others could have.

I thought it was interesting that the were making fun of The Game pulling a 0.0 rating and then about 20 minutes later Terry was waxing poetic about how The Score started out with nobody listening and a 0.0 rating.

you're pretty much making my point for me. they used to be like that.... now think about how dan was front and center for the boston marathon thing and how he was the only radio guy willing to sit us down and spend 4+ hours a day telling us in explicit detail how child rape is predatory and bad. i needed that in my life cuz i hadn't made up my mind on child rape.... but then big dan bernstein showed up.... WITH A TORCH!

Them painting their show as some sort of "bit" that you need to "get" was just pathetic.

I will not lie when I say I've listened to a good amount of their work for the past 15 years - and have been listening to the station since day 1 - but, holy crap, talk about using the current day meta/sarcasm approach to things to cover up your lack of effort and lack of appreciation/respect for your audience!!! Wow.

Dan's too cool to really ever stop and think about the show - but, damn, he certainly has no problem recalling stories/moments where ALS members have fully moistened his back end about a topic. Or how he's able to constantly turn promos for "his" charity into pat-on-the-back parties for himself.

I'd say that people who have stuck with the show, and supported it, are more suckers than fans - as, even at the top of this show as Terry stated, there has never been a show that's been less appreciative/more actively rude towards their fanbase. Other charities will, but One Step will never see a dollar from me BECAUSE of Dan's role ... much like I'd never punch in Boers or Bernstein referral code or ever go to a url that contained a kickback for them. You can call it a bit as much as you'd like, but YEARS of moaning about the Chicago sports fan - their callers - Americans in general just rubs me the wrong way.

What you end up with is a core group of real, and made up, "guys" that love the show and pander back to the hosts by speaking/typing just like them --- then a live event where hardly anyone shows up to support Chicago's longest running radio show. I know these two idiots will never make that connection, but I personally can't imagine how truly beloved a goofball like Terry would be (at this point) if he hadn't fallen in line with his partner's line of condescension and true hatred of people.

That's great. New avatar forthcoming.

Here's something from the facebook group. This is rich:

Quote:
I always appreciate when they dissect serious topics, as they speak the truth and advocate for those that can't always do it themselves. However, Dan's mini tirades against Brandon Marshall always seem to counter his overall championing of the mental health community. Whether it's because Brandon has been involved in domestic violence issues or not, I just wish Dan would stay consistent.

Finally, Jerry Reinsdorf and Theo Epstein have an advocate.

Hypocrisy is impossible to avoid when you are a goofy shock jock and a social crusader at the same fucking time! He's a joke. What is so hard for his fans to understand about this? Hypocrisy is not a word that fully encompasses Bernstein's brand of ignorance.

Dan's mindset is that he can be "ALL". His handling of the Penn State situation was disgusting on many levels!! Was he really giving any listener any INSIGHT!?!?! We know how fucked up the college football culture is...on many levels...unfortunately Penn State was the absolute worst imaginable. For him to act like a reporter on the situation...add commentary on how disgusting the actions were and then within minutes make jokes about "sex with children" was just sad.

I remember a guy calling in actually CRYING about the subject because it obviously was something that occurred to him or someone in his life and Dan YELLED at him that he was "helping". Puhhfuckinlease!!! Dan is a sorry piece of shit and Terry is just getting a ride from the horse that came in on him.

I love how Bernstein is tryign to act like he isn't the garden variety sports radio host and how he is different. The guy brings in crap numbers and stands on his soap box for causes that no one argues about.

Awhile back i posted a thread calling Bernstein an underachiever, most people disagreed with my premise. I still contend that if you look back at Bernstein in the mid to later 90s, for someone to tell me that he would at best be doing the afternoon radio I would have been shocked. Oops, forgot to add that he is also a Senior Columnist.

Bernstein has burned a lot of bridges in Chicago radio if you ask me. ESPN radio wouldn't touch him. WGN-FM had a chance to make a play for him when his contract was up and didn't. Also, do you think WGN wants their hosts telling their callers that they are stupid and don't know anything?

What's worst if you ask me. The Score (after the Mac departure) has full invested and hitched their wagon to the Dan Bernstein style of radio.

It is too bad that White Sox baseball is bringing down the show ratings...

Yeah he settled all right.

Top sports radio guy in one of the biggest markets in the country.

He makes a bunch of money. Gets to live in a great city. Has a wife and a couple kids.

What an absolute failure.

Yeah I gotta agree with this. Bernsie is a douche, but making 300k to bullshit isn't a failure. It's a huge win.

Again, people are missing my point. Bernsie IMO could have been more than he is today. I always thought he would be at ESPN in some capacity.

Arguing if Bernstein is a success in life is a stupid one, arguing that he could have done more is one worth having.

Okay, but would you even try to do more if you made 300k to "work" 5 hours a day?

Could he have done more? Probably. Would he choose to? Not sure.

He didn't have the chops to do real news or real journalism or become a lawyer or doctor...so here is his.

Him taking the "REAL NEWS GUY" turn on PSU, concussions etc, all makes sense.

Not a failure in relative terms to us but probably a major letdown relative to his family and social circles.
