I know. I'm saying I wouldn't find it hard to believe you would stack Kanye as one of the best in the genre or Doug doesn't have Billy's big round coconut carved onto his Rock Mount Rushmore.

I see.

You think people are cooking the books in favor of Chicago

Unless you're Doug with SP or maybe RPB with Kanye, seriously furthering the notion that Chicago can lay claim to many top tier artists in Rock (classic, hard, alternative, whatever) or Hip Hop is disingenuous homerism. What Chicago has produced is some of the best Soul (I hesitate to include this contribution under the whole R&B umbrella,) House, and Industrial Music. Some Blues, I guess, but Blues is so subgenred out that this feels less than empirical, too. It's like saying we produce the best hot dog incorporating relish and celery salt.

Why did Chicago fail to develop top-tier rock bands other than Wilco? Why didn't we have a Plan?

Eddie Vedder and Ray Manzerik were our Maddux trades.

I seriously have never heard anyone claim stabbing westward was better than NIN. Now I have heard ministry quite often.

This wasn't all about being a top act ever just some of the best Chicago artists.

I grew up worshiping the Doors. Chicago couldn't have handled a band like that back in the day.

I'd like to forget him. The Doors were truly dreadful. I wish I could take a sledgehammer to that organ. Everything about the Doors sucks. The pseudo-literary pretensions, the twee cocktail jazz arrangements. And that drunken buffoon howling off-key. It's just, just terrible. But Manzarek did record that X record. So at least he has that going for him.

I have always felt that The Arrivals are a criminally underrated band.

Damn you are correct. I think I was 17 when I got Morrisons poetry book. I read it and was like this guy is awful. I loved the doors though prior to that and still have a place in my heart for them but I can't refute a thing you just said about them.

There was a period when I was a teenager where I loved The Doors. Now they're completely mockable to me. John Densmore had some decent technique, though...

I saw them a few times over the years opening for various bands in Chicago. Was never a fan, but they were always enjoyable.

Met him when he played with Roy Rogers in Ottumwa. Nice down to earth guy .Told great stories of how he wrote the intro to LMF and great Morrison stories as well. Signed old Doors LP for me. Super guy.

You are one of the few that does not like The Doors. You got too high back in the day or your musical knowledge really sucks. Ever listen to Morrison sing The Crystal Ship? Buffoon howling LMAO.
