This was posted by a policeman i know. He's pretty crazy and a far right wing guy but anyway, this is his take.

If a criminal grabs a policeman's gun he's no longer "unarmed". In the same manner that if a carjacker steals a car at gunpoint and drives away, he is no longer a pedestrian.

People on one side are angry and want a full investigation and the facts of the incident to be found, and the other side is arguing for what? A cover up, and no investigation?

I don't get it.

They believe that the cop is being wrongly attacked. As RPB mentioned there are those who want to find any reason to support the cop and others that would still side with the kid if he shot at the cop and got killed.

It just seems crazy to me. What's wrong with wanting all the facts to come out and justice served properly?

Well there have been a lot of threats against the cops too. Its not like everyone on the demonstrator's side are acting civil.

They say they are supporting the cops right to a fair trial and helping with legal fees. If they believe it was a justified shooting, then I see no issue with it.

Are people really unable to sit back, wait for the investigation to be finishhed and then make a judgement?

I posted a link earlier of a Kansas City cop posting pictures on Facebook of a kid with a gun in his hand and money in his mouth. The cop was spreading the word that it was Mike Brown. Problem was he likely knew it wasn't. It's not hard to smear a young black male. Even blacks believe their lives have no value.

...or sometime within the past 2 weeks.

This police department is either the dumbest or the slimiest out there.

I'd have that information out 2 hours after the incident.

The suspect had “taken energy drinks and a package of pastries from a nearby convenience store,” was “acting erratically” and “did not drop the weapon” per police instruction, Dotson claimed. The man then approached both officers, wielding the knife in an “overhead grip.” Witnesses say the man yelled “shoot me, kill me now” and was fatally shot once he reached within four feet of the officers.

lord knows those energy drinks and pastries can really cause erratic behavior

I guess if confirmed that May change things. I'm about ready to wait the month or whatever for this to sort itself out. Just wish the unrest could calm.

Yeap, they have made themselves look bad by letting information leak rather than just laying their cards on the table.

He didn't appear to be injured in the video I saw of him pacing back and forth with a gun. This department is basically doing what any good liar would do. Wait until the other person has told you everything they know and then create a story that proves you aren't guilty.

That story would be easily disproved though.

Yeah, if he was so messed up show a picture of him the next day. Hard to gain support for the kid when the cop looks like he got his ass beat.

He sure as hell didint look to be in bad shape in that video of him pacing back and forth.

Then it would be " He got one of his cop buddies to hit him in the face to make it look good".

I was guessing they called Elmhurst Steve for help on making the cop look innocent. This was Steve's plan?

If I were a betting man I would just about guarantee you that Officer Wilson won't be convicted and it's unlikely he will even get charged based on everything I know about the shooting and all the players involved. Police are given the benefit of the doubt more times than not. Ferguson Police have made many people believe that he was acting in self defense. Bob McCulloch is unlikely to charge him because of injuries and some inconsistencies in the witnesses stories. The DOJ won't be able to prove that he targeted the kid because he was black so they won't have a case either.

In fairness some injuries don't show up until the next day. That being said the video didn't show someone that needed medical attention or was concerned about his eye. I know an MMA fighter that suffered the same injury and medical attention was needed.

Yeah, people are always looking to fuck the police in this country.

That's why people wear hats that say PDNY and we have TV shows named after them.

I also don't agree on reflexively accusing cops of a cover-up, but at the same time wouldn't you agree that the protect your own mantra creates a conflict of interest when the same folks behind the shooting are tasked with investigating it? Doesn't inspire confidence in whatever future "findings" we may hear about, no?

So if medical attention was needed, does that change how you look at this episode in anyway?

Vegan you are correct, as usual. Cops shouldn't be reflectively accused of cover-ups.

But the view of cops in this country is skewed. They aren't seen as public advocates. They are seen as enforcers, and if those goddamn hoodlums mess with them, they are at fault. It's socialization at its finest. IF YOU'RE NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG, YOU SHOULDNT CARE. Our thirst for freedom died decades ago.

Look, the cop was in the wrong to shoot this kid...but why challenge a cop? You gotta know that things wont end well for you.
