It's like an even dumber version of Scorehead. Who would have thought that was possible?

Might need to raise money for this.

Honestly though, the awareness directly leads to donations in a lot of cases, so...

Is it if you brag about it.

I once donated a dollar to Walgreen's and they gave you a paper shoe to put your name on that they hang up in the store. My cousin wanted his name up there, so I donated the buck. Now I didn't post about it on Facebook, but I suppose by the age of 5 my cousin should have known that this was better to be done anonymously huh?

I hate those things. You are basically giving a company a $1 to advertise that THEY love charity. I always say no.

 c'mon now...i can at least understand the points being made re: attention whoring, but if a charity gets money that's all that matters

Frank, it isnt the same. Wearing a t-shirt, putting your first name on a paper shoe, or putting a ribbon on the back of your car are all passive things and you arent trying to guilt trip friends and family to do the same. (not you in particular, I'm speaking in generalities). I'm saying that suddenly out of all the charitable deeds you may have done in the past you randomly chose to make this one public. Why is that if not for the attention that comes with it?

Are you honestly taking it as a guilt trip?

Seems to be harmless fun to me

Because it's an online video viral campaign.

The other one was a paper shoe campaign

Sometimes it's just a ribbon.

I've publically discussed a number of different charitable deeds I've taken part of here on the board and elsewhere. Hell I've invited board members to certain events I've taken part in. The attention or exposure I got really had nothing to do with it.

This wasn't really "random" its the way this challenge came about. You post a video, or donate. Its pretty simple. Its really the same as having your name displayed on a website or something that lists donors.

You should have turned to your cousin, in front of the other customers and said "I am challenging YOU to buy a shoe for yourself!".

Then it would be the same.

Technically, my cousin challenged me as I already said no to the cashier.

But anyway, this is insane. RPB is right. Some people like Facebook, and some people don't. Some people think good can come from Facebook, and some people don't.

I haven't mentioned facebook when discussing this topic.*

*this statement was made to the best of my recollection. I will confirm whether this is in fact true after Frank checks for me.

BTW, Zuckerberg has to love this. It has the side effect of a ton of FB users finding out you that uploading videos is possible and rather simple.

Its almost too perfect...

I have seemingly done the impossible. I have seen dozens of these videos, and I am not on Facebook.

Spanky must go through nervous sweats when asked to donate a buck when asked during a grocery store purchase.
