When you consider how early they are submitted for his edification, the editing and embellishing he does, and of course the frequency of submissions by the usual suspects the result is the same boring, lame, tired, stale, and Bernstein-serving. You could miss the next six weeks and not miss anything.

have you already forgotten NFL Film room... where matt bowan would break down NFL game tape.... on the radio.... that generated big midday ratings for speigal and holmes?

I said nothing quite as entertaining, visual media on the radio is even more entertaining!

Watching tape, reading magazines, eating; these guys have it rough 4 to 5 hours a day, 3 to 5 days a week.

Actually , in a way I commend Bernstein for his shrewd negotiating gambit. His recent contract--which was quickly negotiated-- is reportedly for considerably less than Boers and at a rate that probably blocked Mac from getting his time slot. Management may have been willing to offer Mac more money (maybe a road trip or two) but beyond a bump in pay that was it.

Now Bernstein has 3 years to have his show the way he wants and position himself to get the Boers type money. Terry can stay as long as he wants to cash the checks but the next person in his seat will be paid considerably less with Bernstein planning to get the difference. If the market status quo of sports talkers remains the same he will be the top dog when the next contract comes, and while his ego may go in a Northian direction his business sense will keep him humble enough to be there for that money.

On the one hand there will be Cubs baseball which will become the something new shiny object of his eye, on the other there will be the his inflated soapbox of social issues that he will perch himself upon particularly so long as Boers remains. The reason it remains a gambit is that there won't be anyone new to emerge to disrupt the current market status, and that he won't stumble or fall from his perch on the non-sports issues. Whomever comes after Boers may be the catalyst to keep the show fresh and relevant, emphasis upon "may".

Also, the irony of the "you guys suck" speech is that WYC is a McNeil creation that long ago lost its focus and now its relevance (thanks Bernstein). Maybe the day will come when WYC is a series of Bernstein read e-craps mixed in with recorded one minute craps, screened for content. The latter will make a for a quarterly segment where they play some of the worst craps never to air just for laughs.

Here are a few reasons it has run its course.
1. Bernstein. It was never his to begin with. It was started by Boers and Mac. Never quite got the impression he was comfortable doing a bit that he couldn't take ownership over.
2. Constant need to have crap qualified. If you constantly have to tell people what is and isn't a crap then that's a problem.
3. Bernstein's inability to accept crap directed at him. The incessant need to tell him to just take it. It was difficult for him to self deprecate which ultimately was the purpose of the bit.
4. Repetitive and Redundant craps and crappers.
5. Political craps don't need him. Politicians windsock for a living that's how they eat. Not interesting.
6.Ecraps and texts. No one wants to hear you read a text or email from a guy that agrees with a social position that you've touted for an entire week.
7. Preferential treatment for individuals that are weekly participants.
8. It's not funny anymore
