is this a real thing? or just what you think should happen?

It's a thing. Announcement Wednesday, and Grimmace is off all week.

If this is true, then it would stand to reason that Meat will not be on the new mid day show & that he was told to take the week off, right? It doesn't make any sense to announce Meat & his new partner while he is off.

Maybe Mitch & Zim finally realized that Spiegel has zero value to The Score?

That's the first week of the Bears season. They need to have the show in place that week.

So make the "announce" of it the first day both people are hosting...unless it's a huge name that will get people to tune in, there's no reason they would have to announce this ahead of time.

Dude, we're arguing the same point from different sides.

We both agree it's comical that the announce is taking place without Spiegs on the air.

It would seem that they wanted to announce it today but there must have been some issues with finalizing it.

Spiegel had a planned vacation for next week.

So, best they can do it announce it Wednesday to give them a few days to promote how awesome it's going to be leading into the first Bears Week.

I don't blame Spiegel for taking vacation that is negotiated, I blame management for letting him take it during this time.

I don't blame Spiegel at all. I just find the irony absolutely hilarious.

Replace Spiegal with Mac and you see where this show is headed.

I don't blame him either. But, #1) they might not have anticipated that a firm show would not be in place, which is again their fault. Its possible they could have thought they had something worked out with Mac or somebody else that fell thru.

#2) None of these sports yackers are not going to let somebody schedule a full week off during the first month of football season, unless a family member died or their wife had a baby or something.

They're probably right. If the Bears are successful this season, that'll drive more ratings than any host they choose. Doesn't help long-term, of course. But that's why they'll play it safe/cheap with this decision.

And to quote some other bullshit CBS show.

Not the directions the ratings are about to be headed, I assure you.

Yeah, but management may eventually go another way because of it.

True, but are they willing to eat whatever is left on his contract?

If you're going to take time off, the last week before Bears season at a station obsessed with eating, breathing, and shitting the Bears would be the time to take off. But Spiegel already takes so much time off as it is, so...

I think he'll get some time to prove himself but he is an easy scapegoat if the show doesn't have a lot of success. I mean, he literally has another job that he prioritizes over this one.

If I was Spiegel, I'd be acting like every day is a tryout.

Wow, this was excellent. Well played, Doctor.

Screw meatpants, and screw the station mgt. What a shit show this whole thing is. How in the hell, when everything started to go haywire with your radio partner, do you not tentatively (at least) delay any scheduled vacations? I'm sure the argument, from him, is that he's already paid money for whatever house it is they're renting in Jersey. I seriously hope that I never have to read posts that reflect that meatpants is criticizing some athlete for not playing hard/being easily distracted/not being fully invested in their role on the team.....because this guy is is as delusional and lazy as he is obese.

Also, screw Dan McNeil. HE is the reason that this tub of goo is a factor at The Score. That's Mac's worst crime, dumping this pile of dung in our stew. Yes it's annoying that Dan completely isolated his fans/the station with the way he just decided to not come back, but him being taillights while not taking this steaming pile with him = war crime.

I don't disagree with any of that( I am sure that disappoints you), but the leadership at this place seems awful.

When I was younger, late teens or early twenties, I knew this kid Al who was a year or two younger than me. He was the "friend of a friend" type, he played the drums and a buddy of mine met him through yet another friend who played guitar and the three of them failed to start up a band. Over time the guitar player, who was a cool guy, faded out of the equation and it was just my buddy and Al. Eventually Al was introduced into our larger group of friends and before we knew it the guy who brought him along wasn't hanging out as much and Al had glommed on to a different friend. Eventually Al was excised from our group altogether but in total he probably latched on to about 4 of my friends, making them his "best bro" and then falling out with them, throughout the 3 or so years I knew him.

It may be uncivilized but sometimes the only way to get rid of the shit on your shoe is to wipe it on someone else and run like hell.
