All part of Theo's plan.

Cubs cut grounds crew’s hours
Sources say the Cubs had cut grounds crew’s hours in order to fly under the full-time worker definition under the Affordable Care Act. Thanks, Obama.

Sources tell me they went to pay Clark the Cub's healthcare.

Really. Cheap. Fucks.

Looks like the Cubs have messed up another kind of Plan.

The is the same team that gave Edwin Jackson $13M a year and they're going to nickel and dime some low level but very important employees? It's an awful thing to do.

If an employee wants those better benefits, then get a new job. They aren't signed to 10 year contracts they cannot get out of.

Years and years ago when The ACA was a twinkle in Obama's eye... it was said companies would do exactly this. So don't get bothered that it is happening. It is well within the company's right.

I should have known you had the simple solution to their problem.

The Cubs can run their organization however they want. No one is arguing that. What a billion dollar team did to their low level employees was shitty. We're talking about probably less than $100k.

Not every large company can be Starbucks or Mariano's. :)

Thanks for not asking him how many players are trying to get out of 10 year contracts.

No wonder they were dragging their ass rolling out the tarp the other day!

I'm serious though, this story is one of the most sickening stories I have ever read about the Cubs club.
Eternal losers now both on & off the field. How heartless can a billionaire owner be? I guess Len Kasper would never ask Patrick Mooney his opinion on this!

True. What if these were already part time jobs?

It takes a lot of work to maintain these fields. You don't just show up an hour before game time.

The head groundscrew guy is probably working full time, and maybe a couple cronies. Everyone else on that staff is just working for beer money.

Sources? What sources? The Onion maybe? Link? Also...pretty sure Laura Rickett's is/was an Obama supporter. Don't really know...certainly don't care.

I think they have most of these guys doing other things to keep busy...that's not necessarily a bad thing, but when you've got one of the guys on tarp duty also manning the scoreboard when a storm is fast approaching, bad things are gonna happen.

The Cubs had to make room in order to hire Dan McNeil full time making tall grass short.

Do you like Obama? Do you think he's been a good President? The country has the worst debt problem ever and by a huge margin. This after Obama railed against Bush for the national debt he built with the war he started had caused. Now Obama extends unemployment and welfare to ridiculous lengths, other countries laugh at him when he tries to talk tough and he negotiates with terrorists and releases terrorists for a hostage who was actually a soldier gone AWOL. ....a deserter. This in violation of law, by the way. The jackass is the worst President of my lifetime and by a wide margin. The fact that the Ricketts family despises him only makes points for them with me.

Not to make this political but if we're going into debt (and every presidet loves spending so we are no matter who's in) I'll pick healthcare and welfare over war spending. That's just me though.
