That's why they are awesome prospects - not awesome major-league All-Stars.

Was it you or IMU who predicted that Abreu would soon be playing in Japan?

I believe IMU said that and I agreed.

It should. If a guy is ripping up his Minor League level, he would project to be one of the better players of his class.

He may end up sucking.

However, if the Cubs don't get a solid core of starters with a couple All-Stars out of this group of 8-12 prospects, they really just have some bad luck.

And what if he does? WHAT THEN?

You will have been excited about a prospect who busted out!!

After that, Im pretty sure the reasonable and honorable thing to do is kill yourself.

Just looked up Schwarber, Soler, and Bryant's stats this year combined.

Combined, those guys are hitting .340 with 75 HRs, and 214 RBIs in 259 games.

I'll survive. I have lived through it before.

I've never lived through being excited about 10 prospects who all busted out. Hide the knives then.

I just struggle to understand what's the issue with being excited for these prospects. Theo has tanked the team to the past 3 years to accrue minor leaguers. They better be kick ass. Our success is dependent on these guys.

I don't buy that the Cubs will be FA players. Our stingy owner is too cheap to pay for extra guys to push a tarp for goodness sakes.

Average prospect.

The best from the class are already in AAA

True. But I don't expect Soler and Bryant to be there much longer.

Rodon will play in MLB before Bryant.

Right. Pitchers always develop more quickly than position players.

Bryant still being in the Minors has little to do with his readiness.

There's a reason you don't see a lot of guys hit 50 HRs in a minor league season.

Are you saying they are intentionally keeping players in the minors? You're going to get it from our good friend Bucky Chris.

Yes, I think most teams would have brought Bryant up if they were any good.

I understand why the Cubs aren't doing it.

his readiness as perceived by you

Epstein has shown that he judges readiness differently than the masses and that he does not find him ready as of yet. We saw the same thing with Baez and Vitters.

If you want to real conspiracy theory-y, you could say they brought Baez up earlier than he was ready for, knowing that he'll probably struggle somewhat the first 2 years or so.

Then, they can sign him to a team-friendly contract through most of his productive years.

But, I won't say that. Just throwing it out there.

Rodon envy. I get it and don't hold it against you. Hahn even tanks a season better than Theo.

Francis, cheer up.
You are by far my favorite.
The way you get so bent out of shape by a pic or gif makes me think you might also chase a laser pointer for hours.

I love how everything always turns into a semantics argument during these. The Cubs future certainly looks good right now.

I have to say, I was skeptical about the pick of Schwarber in this year's draft. I was hoping they might get Carlos Rodon, who the Sox picked one slot before the Cubs. But Schwarber has been outstanding so far, and has me feeling much more optimistic about the pick these days. I still believe Rodon is going to be a good pitcher and will be in the majors a hell of a lot sooner (maybe September) for sure. But Schwarber looks like he could be another good player.
