here we go! Another part of THE PLAN...seen booking a ticket at the Greyhound station!

Always wonder how they get here from Iowa? Drive themselves?

Hey hey!

Wouldn't it be nice if this guy becomes a player??

You gotta think he's got a chance: power plate discipline etc.

:D :D :D

Better than Baez. This guy has it all. Add his Latin redass to Rizzo's Italian redass and you got two hot blooded cornerstones. The North side is bringing Chicago tough back. :D

Sox fans will need to get together and transition their mocking of minor league talent to mocking major league rookie development.

Take note.

Lotsa Baez hate going around, what did everyone expect? They even said, they are going to let him go for a period of time and not screw with him. The guy struck out early at every level.

Listening to Holly today, he was like the guy better make some changes in a hurry or his career is over! lol

Baez has struck out 36 times in his first 86 AB's.....I guess 29 times in his first 106 AB makes Holly an amazingly better player!

And Holly does know about careers being over in a hurry, WON ROY and then traded every time he put up any good numbers, good bye!

Not Baez hate. Just always liked Soler's approach at the plate better.

Speaking of rookies,I was shocked to hear Mike Olt led all rookies in HR's until some guy tied him on Sunday. His 12 held up,5 weeks or so after being sent to the minors.

The good and the bad of that is that he was sucking even while in the Rangers system due to this alleged vision issue.

When he was up with the cubs he scuked, because he sucked.

let the guy stack up big AAA numbers, someone will take that!

I always picture, like, retired factory workers and farmers of the Des Moines area who have nothing to do and don't mind every now and then driving some fresh-faced kid out to The Big City in faithful service to the Cubs (and for a pair of tickets and reimbursement on the gas), occasionally breaking the silence and monotony of I-80 with muttered remarks about working hard and keeping one's nose clean on The Road. There's much less bittersweet rustic Americana to the Greyhound scenario, I tell you what.

I hope he gets there in time for the game today. 5 weeks of playing time left in the season basically. It's great to see things coming together piece by piece. Another reason to go to/tune into the remaining games.

and late and in the middle

It seems like people only want to read the positive side of the scouting reports. He will be a 150K per year player. He will be an average to below average defender if he plays SS. He has exceptional power that is hoped will trump the other deficiencies.

I used to frequently take the bus from O'Hare to Peoria in my youth with stops at every prison along the way. There is nothing like traveling to cities whose main industry is incarceration.

I think you might be the one only seeing what you want. As BigFan noted everyone here has been constantly talking about the downside of Baez

No worries RPB, the non-believers (of the Plan) have to fight harder as the Plan starts to show promise. The prospect train has only just begun to roll, and the Cubs have an entirely clear payroll to add free agents as needed. With Rizzo and Castro showing they are real major leaguers, along with surprises like Arrieta, I am as hopeful as ever.

I love your confidence. When can I expect the first of the 15 straight division titles?

If I heard it correctly, I think they are 45-45 in their last 90. Add some pitching to that, and it could be a fun season.

The 45-45 has been a product of excellent pitching.

17-13 their last 30 games. You're seeing some decent pitching across the board minus Edwin. Plus they have enough timely hitting.

Right....nothing but the downside of prospects, including Baez, being discussed here.

You're getting further and further away from reality. You were responding to BigFan who in his post referenced the "Baez hate"

I hope Soler uses the same masking agents as Abreu. Golly the gas he's using has him jacked.

He's juicing, he's older than he says he is, he can't hit the slow stuff, he can't hit major league pitching, he can't hit the breaking ball, he isn't a good fielder. Do I have all of his faults? Feel free to add to the list.
