Seriously, and I'm not trying to incite Cub fans here, but there seems to be a big difference in the way the respective fanbases view prospects and the way the media treats prospects depending upon which team they are on. Tim Anderson was a highly regarded first round draft pick who is moving quickly through the system. I have no doubt if he were a Cub prospect he would be one of the "Core 4" or "Core 7" or whatever it is now. As a Sox fan, I've never thought much about Tim Anderson at all.

I didn't know his name before today. I had to look it up because I needed to make sure the Sox actually had two good prospects and then all of a sudden Bernstein confirms that he is an awesome prospect too!

I'll drop more of my minor leagues baseball knowledge on the group: Tyler Danish. Also, some A pitcher they got in a trade tore it up this year before getting hurt.

In two years the Sox have moved from last to middle of the pack under Hahn.

I have pointed out this difference many times and get roundly pooh pooed by the Cub faithful. I really think Sox fans really do not care until they get to the Cell. Of course, that may change with all the info and ratings stuff these days so readily available.

so you're pointing out that Sox fans are less FANATICAL than Cubs fans.

We'll, I guess that explains attendance at least.

Still don't think Danish can consistently get lefties out with that arm slot.

Add this guy to your dropping knowledge list: Trey Michalczewski

ah, so you think I use the term FANATICAL to mean something positive? Or that higher attendance is positive?

I'm not sure why certain things, players, etc. get hyped and others don't but it certainly isn't always simply based upon their merits.

I'll use an example from harness racing. There is a horse named Captaintreacherous who is unquestionably the best colt of his generation (foals of 2010). But the way the industry embraced him and pushed him as if he was one of the all-time great champions seemed kind of silly. And now as a four year old racing older horses he has struggled. His trainer and main owner have a two year old right now named Artspeak that is more dominating than Captaintreacherous ever was and nobody is really talking about him. So I don't know who is making the call on which horse gets the press and which one doesn't, but it sure isn't based strictly on performance. And I would say the same about ballplayers or anything else.

Tim Anderson is such a boring name. Hawk needs to give this guy a nickname and quick

I actually looked this guy up last week when we were discussing the White Sox drafting of Sale and Rodon compared with the original Core 4 (Thomas, Ventura, McDowell and Fernandez)

His numbers look decent, nothing eye popping

818 OPS is good

So, basically he is building around this future:

Sale
Rodon
Abreu
Alexi
Garcia
Gillaspie
Eaton
Tim Anderson

All while losing Dunn's $15M and hopefully with a larger budget to spend than this year.

I think it's pretty good.

Not totally sold on Gillaspie and health is an issue but that's a solid core

I Don't know who Tim Anderson is but add Quintana n that is pretty good IMO .
I don't think Eaton will stay healthy or be around long term.

Its not great, but its not terrible either. its certainly a solid enough core where if you get some good pitching you can contend with that.

Dunn's $ coming off the books, Konerko opening up a roster spot, and hopefully a Danks trade will really help as well.
