Went to cubs game on Friday with 2 guys who went to HS with bernstein and I know he has even used one of these guys names on the air as the best player he ever saw in his area growing up, so i am going to say maybe he respects him?

These guys just laughed at the fact he is the voice of chicago sports, the guy who never played anything or was involved in anyway with any team. yes, this is the guy now that tells people how to prepare their kids, whats the best way to get good, how to coach , etc.

The 2 guys I was with are still friends with a large group of guys from HS and as a group they cringe that Bernstein represents what they are about.

I thought Dan was, of all things, a competent high school soccer player.

If Dan Bernstein were a grade school girl you'd be the one sitting behind her in class, pulling her pigtails.

It's funny how B&B disparage their callers all the time, when the only ones that get through are those with viewpoints much like their own. The answer is to let in callers with different viewpoints, especially the ones Dan has blacklisted, and that would spice up the show.

As long as Dan is in control of the message, we will get more of the same lame and bad.

It only takes one person to actually relay what Bernstein says, so it really frees up the time to just read it after the fact instead of listening.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome, which pretty much makes us all insane then.

But no, I think there are people here that would like to see Dan gone. He has overstayed his welcome. I used to think that the banter going on between Boers and Bernstein and the duo and their callers was great. But that has all changed, now that Boers has all but gone mute and hardly says any more how he really feels in his heart of hearts. Because of his age or whatever the reason is, he chooses instead to stay in Bernstein's shadow and to follow along with whatever liberal garbage Dan spews out. There was a time when the two would disagree with one another, but not anymore. Unfortunately, Boers has become a sad Ed McMahon figure with all his fake laughing at Dan's lame comments and jokes. It used to be his wittiness and wackiness carried the show, and we loved him for it, but those days are over. Boers has become like the old man on Pawn Stars, where you know he's there (that is when he's not on vacation which seems every other week) but he might as well be taking a nap for his disengagement. He can't even speak a complete sentence any more without starting, "uh, uh, look, uh" and then having to start over mid way through. Too bad McNeil"s attempted coup or fragging of Bernstein didn't work, cause Penguin is the guy most of us would like to see ousted, followed by the disease Batacola and then Grimmace. And too bad anyway about McNeil, because he was the best guy for football, followed by Mulley and then Boers.

I agree that this show is, for me, starting to decline. That said, I still think it's the best sports talk show on radio in Chicago.

The problem with a show that's gone on as long as it has, is that no one in a position of power wants to change it. It works, even if it isn't fresh. There'd be a fair number of people, including me, who would be unhappy if it was broken up before the hosts wanted it to.

Honestly, I don't think Terry gets a new contract after the current.

It's not really a show anymore though. If Terry was still active it would be but he simply isn't.

Yes. We're aware of what we do here.

Sometimes people with certain jobs enjoy being bound and gagged, bossed around and whipped by scary-looking females dressed in more leather than a dead cow to relieve the actual stresses of their busy, important everyday lives.

Sometimes people listen to B&B to do the same. It still doesn't mean the show is good.

very few people here actually listen to B&B. I am one of the more faithful, but they are testing even my patience with increasing regularity.

Truthfully, it would not take much to fix the show as it stands now. Just go back to the old format and allow for a difference of opinion, so that not every discussion being heard is dishonest and following some liberal agenda talking point. This means actually allowing callers on that disagree with B&B and especially Dan, where they are not instantly cut off by him and subject to ridicule without the caller being able to answer or defend himself. All of the best calls of the past had a good back and forth between the hosts and the caller. Dan is just too thin skinned that he never wants to look bad. He's crowned himself emperor of sports radio where he's become deluded into thinking he's beyond criticism.

Also, before Terry has to be put on the unable to physically perform list, the show should be shortened to 3 - 4 hours, not five. 5 hours is grueling even for seasoned broadcasters like B&B. That would allow the material to be more compact and substantive, rather than having segments just to fill air time, and Boers would be more refreshed. I don't need to hear Len Kasper every week talk about the bad cubs. On second thought, I don't need to listen to Len Kasper ever, cause the guy is really boring. And they can do away with a number of other segments and guests like this, just keep the good ones - Hub, Bowen, Denardo are all fine. They should have less of Zaidman, who's irritating if he talks too long. And they should talk more to the athletes themselves or former athletes, which can make for interesting conversations.

Finally, Dan needs to be put in his place. Cut way back on the liberal agenda talking points, in fact, cut politics out of the show like it used to be. Don't let Dan read e-craps that he himself wrote. Allow Boers to say his mind whenever, even if he disagrees with Bernstein. Bring back honest discussions, and do away with the politically tainted dishonest ones.
