Drinky: Mother fucker. Bitch. Caller Bob. Fucker. Ass wipe. Fuckin' 13 years my cracker ass has been Murph's and Bernstein's bitch. This fucker is here for 3 days and he gets it. Bitch. Ass wipe. Fuck Mitch. Fuck Bernstein. Fuck everybody?

Beardown: You done?

Drinky: No. Bitch. Fucker. Cocksucker. Fuck Spiegel. Fuck Bernstein. Fuck Mitch. Fuck radio. FUCK EVERYBODY.

Beardown: Alright. That should just about do it. It's good to let it out. I'll break this shit down in the next post.

Drinky: Fuck you, too, Beardown.

this year's Score Christmas party will either be poorly attended or the night of the long knives

1. Ultimate slap in the face by Mitch to not only drinky, but Grote and Rozner as well. But Rozner is only a part timer and Grote has his updates.

2. You never had a shot, drinky. It was all a ruse to placate you - this tryout shit - Mannelly came in late, but it would have been Rozner if Mitch didn't fall for this "Gotta get a fuckin' Chicago Bear" notion.

3. Back to Bernstein for drinky. But look at the bright side. You no longer have to pretend to like Spiegel. You can go back to insulting him and doing fat jokes. And you now have a new enemy in Mannelly. You can use Bernstein's show to kill him like Murph.

4. I think drinky sucks. But Mannelly? Are you kidding me, Mitch. Drinky would have been better than him. Rozner would have been the best choice of the Bad.

5. Goff doesn't have to regret leaving THE SCORE now. Cuz Mannelly would have passed him over, as well, had he stayed.

I'm not trying to encourage Beardown, but I think drinky has a legitimate reason to be resentful of Bernstein's lack of support

as dan would say, drinky needs to just be better at radio... the radio business is a terrible business to be in unless you are FOTS type talent... the ICB should have advised its classes the first day of this fact

but Dan is wrong, as he frequently is on matters of culture in the business world

Promoting your own is common to the point of a lack of promotion being odd.

Show me a good organization with good leaders & I will show you an organization that has an internal farm system that puts employees on a training & career path for advancement. Organizations that don't promote from within are generally poorly run & a miserable places to work. What Mitch did today is just horrible leadership. Surely there is much resentment & disappointment amongst the ranks today at The Score, all because of one incompetent leader.

The problem is that the Score can't promote from within with the people it hires. Guys like Adam Harris and Herb Lawrence might as well walk through the front door with ceiling tiles on their heads. Even Drinky isn't entitled to be promoted just from being there forever. Honestly, Grote has the most upside of anyone there because at least he has some sort of personality.

Correct. It's not a government job. They aren't entitled to be on air through time served. Not that we needed a thread for this.

This is a radio station, not a factory. Few are cut out to be on air.

We've all worked in places where this has happened in one way or another. The ripple effects of bitterness and resentment will fester and decay the work place from within. I have seen this firsthand.

We had a new GM come in and fire one supervisor and demote the other supervisor to a maintenance position. He then brought in a new supervisor from the outside at a greater salary. Good luck getting anything fixed any time soon.

It won't be long before the digs about this start being quipped on the air. This is gonna get very interesting...

Good leaders hire people who they think can do more than what they are hired to do. Insecure managers don't do this.

you just described the radio business for everyone who has to work at a station except the 6-7 figure earning FOTS'...

I agree. I can't believe they always have to hire dumb asses as producers. Guys that literally can't talk. Then they give them part time shifts cuz they're cheap. All of them get their hopes up that they'll get a show one day. But they never work on speaking better and can't overcome the fact that THEY ARE STUPID.

It's a weird dynamic at the Score. ESPN 1000 isn't run this way. The producers there know they have no shot at a talk show. Their bosses make that clear to them. THE SCORE should do that as well.

The greatest irony a THE SCORE is all these producers try to be Bernstein when they are actually the equivalent to Bernstein's callers.

Sounds like Finfer made a very wise choice a few months ago...

Producing radio and being on radio are two different things. It's like someone from sales wanting to go be a manager in finance. Producers should know this going in unless there is an agreement or understanding that the producer has talent and aspires to be on air. If that is the case, they should mentor with hosts and practice at that craft. This isn't a simple case of "The Score doesn't promote from within."

Yeah. Them thinking they're entitled is like a janitor at a hospital expecting to be promoted Doctor.

"Producer" is a nice way of saying "Secretary". They answer the phones and book guests.

The sad thing is Drinky really thought he had a shot at this. Spmack brought this up a couple of months ago. Then I noticed it as well.

Drinky was constantly retweeting people who said he deserved the show. Or that they love the show. There was a hash tag that said "Twomattsoneshow" or something like that. So drinky was campaigning for himself. Hoping Mitch would see his tweets as I'm sure Mitch follows drinky.

I knew he never had a shot. Drinky didn't, though.

Mitch doesn't have the heart to tell him. But there will be another SCORE opening at some point. Likely Boers in a few years. Drinky will be in those tryouts. He won't have a shot at that one either.

Drinky should get the hint by now. But, if he doesn't, he should straight out ask Mitch "Do I ever have a shot?" I think he never asks cuz he's afraid of the answer.

I suspect Mitch is just as afraid of the question.

The problem with sports radio is that there are only so many slots and then those open rarely. Anyone, in your farm system that is truly outstanding is bound to go somewhere else.

Amongst losers like me whom I converse with, the Game just gained way more steam today. Good luck to the Mid Day.

That's the other point. I don't think other stations want him either. I mean THE GAME hired Finfer and Connor over him. Don't you think if he were offered those jobs he would have left? Of course. He wasn't, though.

As much as Beardown irritates me at times, I gotta admit that I was looking forward to seeing his responses once all of the news came out. I'm even finding myself agreeing with one or two of his thoughts today

Awww shucks...thanks.

Contrary to what you think, spmack, I'm one of the good ones. Tell Goff.

He might have but I think he thought he had a chance. McDoink and Finfer were smarter and stopped playing musical chairs. I highly doubt that the Game is done hurting the score. Hi Danny, Hi Mitch! Is it comfortable resting on your laurels?

No. Drinky is toxic to other stations. If we know he's stupid, don't you think they know? How can anybody that listens to him not know he's stupid? Plus, the other stations are trying to counter program. You think they want a dumb Bernstein clone? No.

Finfer isn't exactly a counter program though. He is like an early bernsie but less skilled. Espn I understand yeah they don't have that guy but we know Bristol doesn't tolerate that stuff. Unless it is so tongue and cheek like Bayless and SAS.
