The guy has family - he talks about his sister picking him up. IS SHE NOT AWARE? DOES SHE NOT LISTEN? DOES HE, OR THE STAFF AT HIS HOME, NOT MENTION THAT HE TALKS TO A COUPLE OF RADIO GUYS EVERY WEEK? Why is this on us to do something?

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills - any, and I repeat, any question you had about what kind of guy Bernstein is can be answered by this segment - how can a guy who continually tries to guilt his "stupid" listeners into donating to "helping kids with cancer" (all via routes where HE will get the credit for the money coming in) be the same monster who continues to giggle and mock a seemingly nice old man?

Just awful. It would be really nice if Mitch would actually direct programming. For the love of God, how in the hell do you allow this to continue?

It's my mission to not only have this bit stop, but to have Bernstein and Boers both apologize on-air for how they've been mocking this "friend of the show".

How can Bernstein be that tone deaf? The arbiter of all that is right and wrong. The beacon for so many lost souls across Chicagoland. But the guy can't hear what is happening when they talk to Bob?

I have similar situations in my life. Sometimes the family is just happy if the person has an outlet and enjoys interacting with other people.

I think it would be fine if he called in every week and they just took the call.

The whole idea of making a "bit" out of it, with promotion, a segment, and all the drops because it's so hilarious is cringeworthy.

Doc, I get that - but if you were his child, would you not give a listen to at least ONE of the calls? Would you then not be FURIOUS at the way they mock and laugh AT him? Neither Dan nor Terry is capable of making a weekly call to Bob be something that is tasteful/respectful - they're way too snarky, mean and condescending.

Amazingly, the ONLY time during today's appearance where Dan seemed genuinely concerned/interested was when Bob mentioned that he had to give his feedback on the Methodist church doing gay marriages -- he stated that he didn't think it was right (against what the bible says), and Dan immediately goes into consultant mode and asks Bob if he's been out to the Pride parade and that he needs to go talk to the pastor and find out "why" they're considering it. Y'know, because the guy who very recently used to giggle like a child at "gayyyyyyyyyyyy" drops has suddenly become a champion of gay rights (because his wife's business opportunities REALLY just opened up).

Man, what a schmuck.

Hard to say. It's very likely that Bob really enjoys these calls and talks about them with his friends/family. Sometimes you just want people to open up and Bob certainly seems to have a purpose here to see movies and likes to discuss them. For the family, the positive might outweigh the negative as what do I care what people on the radio think if the quality of this person's life is improved by it - as long as his last name isn't used nobody really knows who he is anyway.

However, from The Score's perspective, it's exploitative because it's treated as a joke.

So, I understand why the family may not veto it. But, The Score is the one that looks horrible in this situation.

It's how the hosts treat the segment that really makes it tough. In fairness, Rosenbloom is really the one who destroyed it today. Holmes is pretty bad at it too.

Well put, Doc, but I cannot fathom ANYONE'S family being ok (or thinking the positives outweigh the negatives) of what these idiots do with their loved one, weekly.

I can't believe there is actually a subject that has most of the CSFMB in agreement.

This segment makes me itch. Thought it was funny the first time but now I do feel sympathy for this guy. He has no idea that these "men" are laughing at him. It's sad and unfortunate.
