Hopefully this series would mean something this time next year. That being said I hate the fucking Cardinals so it'd be nice if the Cub can fuck up their playoff push. Tonight Kyle Hendricks vs something called Shelby Miller. Baez already has 3 strikeouts from batting practice.

That ballpark village thing looks like it would pretty cool to have here.

No totally. That shot they showed of it looked like it would be a nice place to watch a game, party pre and post.

It's an artificial version of what Chicago developed organically. Also, it took them eight years to build it; that was just a big patch of gravel and standing rainwater for years. St. Louis!

They copied the rooftops. We do have that.

Theirs is just a plastic-y kitschy commercialized version.

What's the Cubs team that haunts you in your weaker moments? It's 1989 for me. The Cardinals were pretty good! Ozzie, Vince, Willie, Jose Oquendo's best season, Tony Pena's beautiful defense and bizarre squat, folk heroes Pedro Guerrero and Milt Thompson. Awesome seasons from Jose DeLeon and Joe Magrane. I loved that team. I was nine years old and I loved that team, and the Cubs kicked their teeth in. Sandberg, Dawson, Grace, Dunston, Dwight Smith in his incredible rookie season. Greg Maddux, Rick Sutcliffe, Mike Bielicki, and Mitch Williams. Just terrifying. I still get angry thinking about them, but I'm glad they existed. It's not easy to pour all of your emotions into rooting for a hero facing an under-armed villain. You know why I bring this up, of course.

I loved this. I was bit older than this guy, but I had almost forgotten how good (and even) the rivalry was at that point.

Yeah...what those guys said...

...looks like a good time...but I'd say Cub fans have nothing to be envious of in the "ballpark neighborhood ambiance" factor. :D

Well it looked like it would having all the rooftops combined with people walking around ,etc. Probably a decent place to meet the ladies.

Consensus among longtime fans I grew up with, it's sorta has a Disney/Mall type vibe but it's fine if it provides the franchise with new revenue from the "casual" fans. We wouldn't go there, that shit's like Navy Pier... it's for the tourists and suburbanites. But it makes the revenue that allows the team to overslot for some kid in the Dominican Republic.

Real St. Louis natives know where the real chain dining is.

You know what's interesting, in sports-radio and blog culture (as it were) down there, what the Chicagoverse refers to as the Meatballs, they signify as "Gas Station Fans", because you know, the local QT is something of what passes as a cultural mecca.

Ooh, I really like that. That is good. It's true, though; the first thing I really noticed about the St. Louis area that told me I wasn't home was how expansive their gas station convenience stores are. No wonder they lost their shit over somebody robbing one!

Yeah. In Brooklyn, it's a pizza joint or a barber shop. In Ferguson (about 4.5 miles from where I grew up), it's a fucking gas station.

There is a history of police misconduct and brutality in that area. There was a horrific Brown's Chicken-like incident (it was a Church's... FC), except all the employees/people killed senselessly were black and from the neighborhood. The killer was an insane rogue white ex-officer that was never prosecuted.

Listening to the Kasper WGN sound feed.

He is so much better than the STL guys, it isn't close. Kasper is one of the best, IMO.

I've got good memories of that parking lot...getting my picture with Shane Battier while waiting to get into Game 2 in 2011...seeing Ozzie just awkwardly stare at people during commercial breaks....good times...

Didnt want to sit him down the night after he fucked up earlier this week. Wanted him to play and run out every ground ball, sprint, but still didnt see it.

I would have him run sprints before the game.

he does this shit where he pulls up and trots, like a little too cool for the room shit. Yeah its time to take action

thisis the first game i have watched soler. he looks confident up at the plate, he definitely seems to have an idea about what he is doing. the home was great, but the walk he took in his previous at bat was nice too, he was not fishing for any of that shit miller was trying to get him to offer at and he took a walk. its a little thing but it was good to see one of these young guys with an idea of the strike zone.

Soler to my eye looks like he may have the highest offensive potential (haven't seen Bryant at all, disclaimer) of all the highly touted Cub prospects, he can hit, has enormous power, and can run.
