In case you didn't catch the news yet:

https://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-shut ... 03284.html

The spread's on the Buffalo game is going from -5 Bears to -2 Buffalo if Orkin is named the starter. Even if he's not named, it's going to a pick 'em. It was the biggest mistake in the history of the Bears to have traded Orkin away and two first rounders for Cutler. I was on the B&B show that day telling them how wrong they were.

Every time I hear Bernstine tout Cutler as the best Bears all-time quarterback, I cringe. For whatever reason, they dislike McMahon as much as they do Ditka and everything about the '85 team. During a phone-in to B&B to call Bernstine on his stupidity I reminded them both of the "Miracle in Minnesota" when McMahon came off the bench (after he had been injured all week) to throw a touchdown pass on the first play to Willie Gault for 70s yards, only to follow up with 2 more touchdown passes in the 2nd half. Boers was completely speechless. Nothing Cutler has ever done comes close to the magic McMahon had on that day. McMahon was a born leader, whereas Cutler takes himself out of NFC Championship games against the Packers.

I'm done for now. Everybody have a good weekend. I'm working on my letter to Rep. Roskam about the Penguin.

Here's a clip of the punky QB from that game:

-6.5 Still....Actually up to -7 at the MGM still. Nice work

Well it's the betters that move the lines after they've been set. Not everyone has registered the news yet.

If there's any chance Orkin plays, I'd be inclined to take the Bills at home -7.

Expect Cutler to get heavily blitzed by Sherman since the Bears can't run the ball.

You really dont know shit about betting do you? Wagering news is almost immediate, slower than the stock market, but still within minutes of announcements.

The Super Bowl line was Seattle -2.5 when the teams were official and went to Denv -2.5 within 15 mins.

Anymore lessons for me?

I got one telling me the Bears line is going to drop 5 pts becuase Ortman signed with the Bills and the other one telling the NFL playing games on Fri and Sat nights would be rationgs death.

Wish I could short these concepts somewhere

Dude, where do you think I get my Christmas money from? It's from knowing the imperfections in the lines. -7 is no good for the Bears if Orkin plays. You have been absorbing too much false optimism from Boers on the Bears.

No, I don't think you know what you're talking about, B F. You give a bad comparison with the superbowl spread, the biggest game of the year that everyone is paying attention to and betting on. Bears - Bills, on the other hand, is a second or third tier game at best. Sam Rosen will probably be on the call, not Aikman and Buck. Hence there is more room for error with this line.

Spreads evolve during the week for regular season games. They do not just move instantaneously 5-10 minutes after they are posted and remain that way all week, although if they are really off initially they can see good movement right away.

 I see a bet coming on! Dignified Rube will take the Bills minus 5, and I'll say no NFL games on Friday or Saturday night for next 5 years.

I was talking about the spread move from Orton "tongue-in-cheek".

More seriously, I would be inclined to take Bills -7 if Orton plays, which is a big if. Sherman will blitz Cutler all day long, since the Bears cannot run. Cutler will become flustered by the 2nd quarter, put on his pouty face and throw a couple of his famous red zone picks. If Orton plays, I expect he throws two to three TD passes on the Bears. And then next week B&B will be talking about why it was a bad move originally for the Bears to have traded Orton away for Cutler, a complete turn-about in the position they've maintained for the last five years. But Bernstein will say this is what he's been saying all along.

So Orkin, with no training camp and less than one week of playbook is going to light up the Bears? As much as I'm coming to loathe Mel Tucker, your Ortman love is truly unparalleled. If I were a gambling man I'd make the bet with you.

Is Orton worse than Chad Henne or no previous NFL experience Bortles?

I think Cade McNown could light up the Bears, even after being out of the league since 2003.

As a Bears QB, Kyle Orton accomplished what no other Bears quarterback managed to do - complete passes to Devin Hester.

What does any of this have to do with the B&B show? Or are you just posting it here because you crave attention?

Before you ask an ignorant question, maybe you should have read the previous posts a little more carefully.

I'll ask again, what does any of this have to do with the B&B show? Because you called them and said trading this bum was a mistake?

Next time you can save time by answering your own questions. Or the thread for remedial message comprehension is on another board, under Laurence Holmes.

And who made you the board police?

The gist of this thread was that Boers and Bernstein have not been right about the Bears ever. They haven't been right about Cutler, McMahon, Ditka and certainly not the '85 Bears, the greatest team of them all in Chicago. All they can do is quip about Ditka not having won more. But without Ditka, they wouldn't have won the one.

And I'll tell you one more thing about Ditka. Two years ago he showed up in the fall for a signing at Motorwerks on Roosevelt Rd. in Wheaton for a couple of hours in the evening one night. The line to see him was two blocks long, even after he had stopped seeing people inside. I know because I was there. Now compare that to the showing of people at B&B's 15th in that clip with Drinky. Compared to Ditka, Boers and Bernstein are a joke in Chicago.

So get yer mouth shut.

1. Orton isn't starting game 1 after being signed yesterday.

2. The line wouldn't move 3 points for the Bills even if he did. If anything, it would move 1 point for the Bears.

Big Fan is right. You don't know NFL gambling.

Do you know what a big deal it is to move a line 3 points in the NFL? It rarely happens. Has to be Peyton Manning getting sick on Saturday or some shit like that to move it that much.

Before taking sides with someone who doesn't understand the concept of comparison by faultily comparing the wagering on a Superbowl game to that of a third-tier Bears - Bills game in week one of the regular season, you might want to read what he wrote first before putting your foot in your mouth too.

No. I'm not saying that Vegas doesn't post bad lines. But that's for the smart players to take advantage. I said that Seattle-Denver SB line was bad from the start. I said it on this board. But Vegas knew they were gonna get idiot Denver money. Cuz dumb ass America loves Manning and aren't really good handicappers.

I'm saying they don't move them, 3 points, one week before the game unless the star player dies. I don't need to read anything to know that's true.

Well, it's not game time yet, is it? Still a week to go when the line can still move.

To reiterate, I would consider taking Buffalo +7 at home if Orton might play. If Buffalo's coaches were smart, they would play Orton cause he's better than what they got. If you want to take the Bears -7, that's your prerogative. I'm not twisting your arm to do that. If you knew about Bears wagering, which is what we're talking about here, they don't seem to cover very much. And they don't play well away.

I didn't bet on the Superbowl last year. However, the previous year I did and took Baltimore when no one did. Look how that turned out.

The line will not move 3 points as you suggested. That's the main point. And Orton is not gonna start. If he did it would move to Bears -7.5 cuz Orton can't know the full offense in one week for the love of God.

And the proper play would be to take the Bears -7.5 if Orton started. Which is what most gamblers would do. Even the idiots.

Don't you think Orton already had the playbook before he signed? And he is a pro after all.

You're probably right he won't start. But just him being on the Bills makes this game a lot more interesting than if he weren't. That's my point.

Point conceded. I knew they were on the road a lot at the beginning (first 6 of 9 are), and thought this game too. That will help the Bears, no doubt.

Good thing I haven't bet yet.

This shtick would be somewhat funny if you were a mult or a troll. But, sadly, I think you might be serious, so it moves from funny to sad and pathetic. I'm not sure which one it is yet.
