Sorry gang, was out and about today ( sorry about the rabbit, Chus) so didn't make a game thread earlier. Milwaukee can suck the bag of dicks too especially with the gutless fucking turd Braun playing for them. Nice win today . Tommorow has notorious Cub killer Yovani Gallardo vs Arrietta but I think Mr Gallardo gonna get knocked around. The push towards mediocrity continues.

Ramirez & Rondon are looking to be a nice 1-2 punch.

They described it strangely on radio but did Castro once again demonstrate his lack of fundamentals by hurting himself sliding into home?

Looks like Castro might have just fucked up his left knee... got it folded under him on a pretty awkward slide into home.

Would have been nice if Castillo read the play better and didn't tell him to slide.

But I always thought that mandatory slides in LL was a problem because kids that age don't know how to slide and can get hurt.

Oh well, the Cubs aren't short on Short Stops and they got a 4 run lead.

Yeah. His left leg was straight legged (if that's a word but you imagine it) and his cleat caught in the dirt and it buckled his leg under him. Strange slide. Unnecessary. Castillo was on deck? He was telling him to get down, but the throw was cut off... could have been read better.

Seem to be reaching on ways to pick on Castro.

Hit .400 for the month of August? "Unload him!"

He probably only had a bad slide because he was still grieving.

99 out of 100 times no one comments on it as no injury occurs. The slide looked awkward but it happens.

Always go in feet first except when you should always go head first... fact is that slides can increase chance of injury and yet it is part of the game.

Good god what is wrong with these Brewers?
Too bad that one goes as a hit instead of an error.

Sprained ankle. Not broken.
Glad it's not the knee. Looked like the knee.

Am I missing something? Do .290 middle infielders grow on trees?????

I would bet if they can get a haul for him they would deal him in a NY minute if you get my drift. Yankees need a SS now and Cubs can sell high.

Castro leads all qualifying SS in BA, and is third in OPS. 5th highest OPS amongst all qualifying middle infielders.

And the Yankees don't have the kind of pitching the Cubs are looking for, which is "good" pitching.

Trading a proven good player like Castro and pinning your hopes in a SS in the system that is unproven and may not pan out is dumb - especially at this point in time when the Cubs are close to competing.

Is there an upside to Alcantra that I'm not seeing?
I haven't seen a good AB from him in weeks.

Castro= Cheap too!

Alcantara has some pop. Good defensively. Maybe a better Boni with power eventually?

I understand this. You are in love with Castro. I am not. He is a skittish error prone MIDDLE INFIELDER. Not a SS. He is a 2b or aaa ss playing at major league level.

He sucks. Bad plate approach. Role player. Glad we saw it now though instead of next year.

I thought Alcantra was part of the golden age of baseball coming via Iowa?

I broke my lower leg sliding just like Castro did.

I usually slide on my right leg and last second slid the other way, foot got caught, baseball career over at 14.

See my edit. He has been playing better as of late. He strikes out a ton, and maybe you're seeing a lot of that, but he does hit for extra base power. And his speed has disrupted other teams as well (see: first inning)

I'm not sure he is a 162 game starter for a good team, but if his OBP skills improve a bit and he continues being versatile in the field...he is a nice addition to a roster. And who knows...maybe he keeps improving and you can roll with him in CF for the future.

Do you think he will be a guy who is trade bait or a building block?

I'm not against trading him...but I like players with his combination of speed and power that can also play multiple positions. A super sub.
