Do they go outside the usual list of employees/former employees? Or find somebody who actually has a different view of things?

Please explain. I bet NBC Sports will have Colin Kaepernick on with Bob Costas during "Football Night in America" before Bears/Niners at Levi's next Sunday.

That's pretty much how I feel about Matt's question also.

Phil Emery. former scout for jerry angelo.

anytime they want to hire somebody from outside this incestuous mindset is ok with me.

You should probably ask the search firm used to find him/her.

Just shows what kind of organization the bear is when they need a search firm to find a football guy.

To me, he's the most unlikeable person associated with the Bears (and that's saying a lot). Every time he speaks it's cringeworthy.

They had a guy right there for them...a guy who called them to tell them that he would love to work for the team...& the team said no thanks. That guy was Jim Harbaugh. They didn't want to fire Lovie...then a few years later they fired Lovie.

The search firm was OK, but they found someone that the Bears should know!

It is a huge problem with the McCaskeys, they dont know people in football! They dont LOVE football. These arent Football people, they are just fans that like the money.

So when it comes to finidng people , they feel comfortable with people they know, which can be said of anyone, but they know very few. It"s how the team accountant became the team President.

Did the Bears use a search firm for the Emery hire? I thought that was just for Angelo.

You’ve got to love football in this building.

Let me say it again, you don’t have to love football, you’ve got to REALLY love football.

The Bulls have been running on a similar approach. That hasn't worked out too well.

That is incredibly stupid, panther. I wouldn't care if they had Bret Farve as a coach. If he was able to bring something in that helped the Bears win a Super Bowl, I wouldn't care who he played for.

Only Ex-Bears understand The Bears.

Bears Football is world's different from any baseball or basketball team.

So you're saying Rashaan Salaam would outperform Bill Polian as Bears GM?

I thought I had qualified that quite specifically:

I dunno. Fencik's football information has never impressed me that much. Nice guy, though.

Mike Brown? Eh.

I rather let MONGO generally manage the Bears than either of the above. He would fail, but at least he'd be funny.

Rashaan runs a martial arts promotion company, so he obviously knows business and should be Bears GM. Or else the governor of Illinois.

This guy gets it

I preferred that guy they were interviewing from the Giants organization. I think it would be nice to have a younger guy who has been in an organization known for its drafting (not so much recently with the G men). Also, teams like the Giants and Steelers are organizationally similar to the Bears
