Terrible.

I know I'm emotionally biased, but Conte was the single worst defensive player I watched last year. That's saying something, given the other members of his own defense.

Horrible angles, tackling like a 5th grader, blown coverages, and letting the ball go right through his hands were all weekly occurrences.

Conte had a bad year. If we go back 2 to 3 years ago everyone is praising his play. He's going to bounce back. Having a good front 4 will help.

Hopefully he remembers how to tackle. That shit almost seemed mental. He was the Rick Ankiel of safeties.

I will give you that. It definitely was mental. He would make a few good plays but then 1 mistake would kill his confidence after a while.

How is not being able to tackle worth shit a mental issue? You could say that running the opposite way of the receiver in the end zone is "mental". I'd rather call it bad at football.

I dunno what the truth is but supposedly his shoulder was fucked up. That's going to make it hard to tackle.

2-3 years is an eternity in the NFL. He can only get worse.

He tackled like he was afraid. Looked like a little kid trying to tackle an adult. I agree it just means he's bad.

I have never seen a player get bitch slapped like that for 40plus yards atleast knock him out of bounds.
How the hell did Adrian Wilson not make this team.

That play at the end of the game didn't mean anything. Instead of getting tackled at the 10 he got knocked out at the 1. Conte played well yesterday. I don't know how you could have watched the game and thought otherwise.

He made plays and wasn't out of position all game. Getting stiff armed for 10 yards didn't decide the game.

I do believe his shoulder is still injured. Conte from 2 season's ago would have blown up at least 1 downfield pass. Instead he just tackled him.

I can't see how you could watch that game and think he had a good game... or really even a decent game. He had that INT, fer sher, I'll give him that. But that didn't decide the game either, honestly, and he was more or less a non factor.
The defense was catastrophically bad yesterday on several levels. The linebackers were just god awful, and the secondary was terrible too. I know they didn't throw to Tillmans side much but I sure didn't see much there either.
I'm super worried about this defense. I can't see any way they're a 500 or better team.

I saw him blow coverage on a zone at least 3 times and completely misplay a (I'm not sure what they call this but I call it a man Zone where the weak LB blitz and the corner covers the flap and the safety takes over on a post type route). The play we're talking about the stiff arm was fucking embarrassing and shouldn't happen to a starter. His tackling is weak at best.

What game were you watching?

Didn't you notice EJ. Manuel converted at least 3 key passes in the middle of the field that were awful floaters? The Bills receivers went up and got the ball but as a "safety" where was Conte to either:
A) clean up the mess from the corner and break up the pass
B) blow up the receiver

He played scared and tentative.

The tackling is the icing on the cake. I remember in high school football when you'd got a 1 on 1 open field with some kid on defense who should never be in pads. He would clam up, close his eyes, and lunge for dear life in a feeble attempt to stop you from running him over/ killing him. That is how Conte tackles.

He made the tackle. I mentioned the fact he didn't blow up those 2 plays earlier. I think he shoulder is still injured. You can tell by the way he tackled the guy.

Just re watched the Conte tackle attempt again on inside the NFL and he was not going for the ball. That's horseshit.

Yeah...I've heard a few people say he was going for the ball , I saw it live n it didn't appear he was trying to force a fumble ...he's just a bad tackler.
